8. Just remember this. . .
it is not a good idea to store gasoline in an open-top 55 gallon drum in a closet in your apartment. Someone did that a couple of blocks away from where I was living back during the last gasoline shortage. When their apartment blew, it took down most of the building. I felt the explosion three blocks away.

It's probably not a good idea to store it in glass bottles in your trunk, either. Another braniac idea I remember someone tried years ago. (People in Los Angeles take their rides seriously -- if not always intelligently.)

2. I've wondered for a while why this doesn't happen more often
and not just in Iraq, but everywhere. Pipelines are so vulnerable, and they seem like such a juicy political target. It seems to me as if it would be easy to force us to guard every foot of oil pipeline on planet earth. Not impossible, but very very inconvenient.

6. It happens often in Iraq, but it gets little media coverage
This pipeline in northern Iraq has not really been operational since the beginning of the invasion. The pipeline in the south was just bombed in the beginning of May and came back up to speed last Wednesday.

4. Acts of sabotage on the pipelines
probably does occur more often. But isn't always reported when it happens. Wouldn't want to advertise another target to your enemies.

I absolutely recall stating quite clearly that the Iraqis would NEVER allow us to enjoy that oil.

But did they listen?
