US, Britain to PRESENT Iraq resolution to UN on Monday

US, Britain to present Iraq resolution to UN on Monday
UNITED NATIONS (AFP) - The United States and Britain will Monday present the UN Security Council with the first draft of a resolution on Iraq (news - web sites), diplomats on the council told AFP.

The two allies have been meeting with the other 13 council nations over the past few weeks to hash out the broad outlines of the measure, which will recognise the new Iraqi government set to take power on June 30.

The resolution will also clear the way for foreign forces to remain in the country after the formal end of the occupation on that date.

But it was not immediately clear what its full content would be.
The United States would like to secure the UN Security Council to put a stamp of approval on any new Iraqi government as well as invite troops from more countries to the US-led stabilization effort.

UN envoy Lakhdar Brahimi is curently trying to put together an interim government for Iraq that will assume power on June 30, when the Coalition Provisional Authority will officially cease to exist.

It is uncertain if Washington and London would be able to win legal immunity for troops in Iraq, a question which has become crucial since the damaging revelations of abuse of Iraqi prisoners by the US military

1. Here it is UN, you fix it!
Bush is acting like a kid who breaks a toy and wants someone else to fix it! I wouldn't want the job! I know we must hand it over and get other nations involved, but my God, we have certainly inflicted some damage on these people by *liberating* them!!!

2. I hope that they don't win immunity
We shouldn't be able to get out of this just because Bush says so.

3. Bush Should Stick To TBall
That's where his initial interest lay and he may have done a darn good job.

We have military stationed and money flowing from U.S. taxpayers to over 144 countries and his concern is what?
If Bush's cause was so great, why didin't more countries join in?

He wants to hold harmless an American female soldier leading a naked Iraqi man on a leash or a male American soldier focing Iraqi women to bear ther breasts?

5. Oh, now they want to use UN again
Also, US/UK want this resolution to get other nations to pay for the mess they created. No Sir, you break it, you fix it. Unless the US/UK get out of Iraq, and both start to pay reparations, I don't want my government to spend my tax money on behalf of KBR, Titan, Dyncorp etc.
