Mother of Iraq Contractor Worries for Son

TELFORD, Pa. - When Jean Campbell first heard about abuse at Iraq (news - web sites)'s Abu Ghraib prison, her son, a civilian interrogator there, told her he was glad something was being done about the problem.

Then the Army pointed its finger at him. In a scathing report, the Army said Steven Stefanowicz was among those responsible for the mistreatment of prisoners at Abu Ghraib.

Now Campbell, a chapter president of the Blue Star Mothers of America, wonders if her 34-year-old son will face charges like those that led an Army reservist to be sentenced to up to a year in prison for photographing the abuse.

"The government can do anything they want," she said this week, rocking anxiously on her porch in Telford, Pa., a small town about 35 miles north of Philadelphia.

more...Mamas, don't let your babies grow up to be torturers...

1. Remember the parents of the Columbine kid? They did not take
responsibility for anything. Might it be that now instead of "the wife is the last to know" we have "the parents are the last to know?"

4. I'd be worried too. . .
'member the father of the MP that first released the photographs to 60 minutes II, did so to protect his son from being scapegoated. Now guess what? His son is getting scapegoated. This whole thing truly sucks. But never fear. . .Rumsfeld is "a survivor." Gee and I was so worried about him.

5. At the end of the article, the mother said she still supports Bush
She is a republican and

She remains cautiously supportive of the war.

"I pray to God that President Bush (news - web sites) knows what he's doing," Campbell said. "I'm taking him for his word, because my son and all the sons and daughters, their lives are in his hands."

Idiot.
