Drug gangs in New York City, Seattle dismantled, authorities say

NEW YORK -- A two-year investigation led to the arrests of 34 people as police dismantled four major heroin and cocaine gangs in the Bronx, authorities said.

The investigation, called Operation Slam Dunk, also led to the dismantling of a Colombian drug trafficking organization in Seattle, police and prosecutors said Thursday.

Eight people were arrested in Seattle and 26 were arrested in New York in connection with the probe, authorities said.

Maybe not the same people, but as long as the profit-motive remains in drug dealing there will be gangs working to import drugs and get people hooked.
