July 9 (Bloomberg) -- Turkey warned the U.S. that its troops will fire back at U.S. soldiers if another attempt is made to arrest Turkish soldiers in Iraq, Milliyet daily reported, without saying how it obtained the information.

Turkish Military Chief of Staff Hilmi Ozkok issued the warning during a meeting yesterday with General James Jones, the U.S. commander in Europe, Milliyet said.

4. another part the shrub didn't think through...Turkey will just
annex northern Iraq, as part of it's own...the Kurds (wanting their own country), and Turkey, wanting to hold onto it's Kurdish people, while incorporating the Iraqi Kurds into THEIR fold...

In January, at the Jim Moran town hall meeting in Alexandria VA....a long-time military guy said the shrub was throwing a brick into a hornet's nest...

what a mess...this is a real BIG mess...and everyday, it just keeps getting bigger...our soldiers are sitting ducks, they can not tell whether the person next to them is foe or friend...and now, they could be killed by our own coalition-of-the-willing..or was that cooalition-of-the-billing...

11. I hope you are being sarcastic
The last thing our troops need is more people shooting at them. Bush really must start making an effort to smooth things over with Turkey and our other allies so we do not isolate ourselves from the rest of the world.

12. bush* is busy lollying around in Africa, petty elephants and all....
while Turkey threatens to SHOOT OUR TROOPS !

the Commander-in-Chief is paying NO attention to his ongoing wars in Afganistan and Iraq, currently costing close to $ 5 Billion dollars a month for both wars...

14. read again
if turkey is attacked again, then they will ripost... they don't speak about attacking first, tell me what kind of rights had US to do what they did ?

NATO is a defensive alliance, and contries should help the attacked contry.

I don't see a big conflict, but a small fight may lead to the removal of US troops from EU and NATO, a good point.

remark: you can argue that these Turkish soldiers were in Iraq, but last US attack on Syria ground was an act of war.

8. We still have Albania.
Who needs the Turks? We still have Albania and Bulgaria. And didn't Denmark just send 300 troops equipped with snow shovels and a lawn mower? We are in good shape. THANK YOU DUBYA!

10. Good and bad
Good in that yes, the Turks should defend themselves.

Bad, in that its our troops "just following orders" that will take the brunt of it. Not the shmucks that administer the orders.
