TEL AVIV, Israel (AP) - Israeli forces tightened their hold on the Rafah refugee camp on the Gaza-Egypt border, sweeping through five neighborhoods and killing eight Palestinians, while in the West Bank, three Palestinians were killed, including a 13-year-old.

Israel rebuffed international pressure to wind up its operation in Rafah, with its increasing death toll and destruction of houses. An Israeli official warned Thursday that the alternative was to allow Palestinians to smuggle in long-range rockets and anti-aircraft weapons, warning that some such arms may already be in southern Gaza.

Through Thursday, 39 Palestinians had been killed during the three-day Israeli sweep, including 10 who died Wednesday when an Israeli tank shell exploded among thousands of Palestinian demonstrators marching to the surrounded Rafah shantytown.

In addition to the Tel Sultan section, the first target of the raid, Israeli troops swept through the Brazil and Salem neighborhoods near the border.

1. Why is it a crime for Palestinians to kill occupying Israeli forces?
This latest carnage is in retaliation to the killing of 13 Israeli soldiers? WTF? They are an occupying foreign force...these are not 'innocent civilians.'

2. What results are Sharon and Likud expecting from this shit?
I just,...I just don't,...I cannot seem to capture their mentality.

Of course, I never was a "save the rod, beat the child" type.

4. I've had it with Sharon. Why is this tolerated?
We were so close in '99. And I don't want to hear the "but Arafat didn't take the wonderful deal" argument. They were close, but I feel that we had the wrong people bargaining. A pox on both their houses. I think the civilians could have worked this out.
