'British Spy chiefs prepare new dossier'
Now isn't this just desperate scraping of the barrel? Now call me a doubting Thomas but if they were there wouldn't we have found them by now?

http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/uk_politics/3134597.stm

A new dossier on Iraq's alleged weapons of mass destruction is being prepared by MI6, it has been reported.

According to the Economist magazine, the document will contain claims of an extensive biological weapons programme based on evidence from Iraqi scientists.

The publication quotes "Whitehall sources" - a term often used for government insiders - as saying spy chiefs will tell Prime Minister Tony Blair that there was a conspiracy in Iraq to disguise the extent of its chemical and biological weapons programme.

The report will be seen in some quarters as an attempt to offset government embarrassment that no weapons of mass destruction have been found in Iraq.

1. The indignity!
:kick:

This is actually quite important, it's the previous two dossiers that have got Blair into the mess he is in now.

I know this is the silly season but it would be nice not to have to gawp at Arnie all the time.

2. Lies upon lies
So Iraqi scientists are going to tell us that there were in fact massive hiddens weapons programs that could smite us in 45 minutes?

Bollocks.

There's a huge difference beteween

Lets build weapons of mass destruction

and

We've got weapons of mass destruction.

3. Perhaps...
Blair is just getting his PR ducks in a row so he has something to table that *looks* independent when Paul Kay delivers his report to Bush *exposing* Saddam's WMD "programmes".

5. Independent my arse
I think that the fiasco of the last two dossiers (one of which was plagarized from an undergraduate thesis that was over 10 years old on the net lest we forget) has removed any thought that these dossiers are anything approaching independent in most thinking peoples minds.

Blair should stop trying to lie on behalf of Bush and start listening to ordinary people.

7. I meant...
"independent" in the sense of "independent of the report being prepared for Bush by Paul Kay" which is expected to come out in September or so, and to "document" Sadam's WMD "programmes".

When Bush releases the Kay report, Tony wants to have one from MI6, thereby avoiding having to publicly say that he remains convinced there were WMD "programmes" because "my friend Mr. Bush told me so".

10. Thanks...
Nice to be here. I've been mostly lurking, and generally like what I read here. Certainly is a good place to stay atop news that matters.

4. Could this new "dossier" be the reason the head of MI6 resigned last week?
Just asking, mind you. But she (I think it's a woman)was known to have major differences with the Blair bunch over their hyping of intelligence.
