May I recommend that DU put links to both

http://lunaville.org/warcasualties/Summary.aspx

and to

http://dailywarnews.blogspot.com/

Any reports in the news about "3 days with no casualties" or 5 days with no fatalities - are pure and unadulterated BULLSHIT.

1) wounds are not little booboos - they are debilitating shrapnel, bullet, impact and concussion wounds that maim, scar, and cripple for life.

2) dying due to heat stroke, heart attack, seizure, pneumonia, falling, crashing or drowning is STILL DEAD, and those people would NOT BE DEAD if they were not there, in the heat, under constant attack, stressed out, dirty, tired, poorly fed, and getting shot at.

2. Thanks.
I commend the effort that went into this. I'm still digesting the news about the "not really napalm."

3. Great links...
Thanks for the information. It's disgusting the way the press is attempting to cover this up. The average American needs to know what is going on in order to judge whether or not this illegal invasion is worth it. Of course, I was never for it.

5. Nice catch
They should be reporting total casualties, not just KIA. At least it's the total KIA since the Iraqmire started.

7. thanks, Dannyred, we must honor their sacrifice by minimally
getting a little line in a newspaper...and it is horrifying that OUR soldiers' families are then subjected to the most degrading and humiliating notice upon death of their loved ones:

...your kid died from a non-combat related auto-accident, fall, stray bullet, land-mine goof-up....

how cruel can it get....

when my cousin, Charlie, was brought back from Vietnam in a box...at least we took some confort in feeling that he died defending OUR country...(maybe he did, maybe not, maybe he fell off a building, or get hit by a stray celebratory bullet, who really knows), but at least it was some comfort to us, the family, at the time...I can't imagine how horrifying for the families to only get the "your kid screwed up and fell off a building notice"....can't they think of something more honorable...like..."your kid served honorably and died in the service of OUR Country, during Iraqi Freedom war"...at least then, our soldiers children and wifes and husbands could have a little honorable memory....like we tried to have about Charlie....and years later, Vietnam turned out to be a real dis-honorable war...but at the time, when we buried Charlie, it was comforting to think that Charlie died honorably in a war, defending our freedom....

9. There was the strangest little cartoon in my small-town
conservative newspaper yesterday...

Had a sketch of Uday, then a sketch of Qusay, then a sketch of a terrified looking American soldier as shown through the cross hairs of a rifle, the captions read 1)Uday 2) Qusay 3) Everyday.

It flipping freaked me out. Seemed to be VERY anti-war, and this is a paper that has a barely readable column by someone who proudly calls himself Bubba and is a self-proclaimed "good ol' boy", and usually carries sickening suck-up cartoons to W portraying him as some kind of benevolent Disney creation or something.

Thank God this strip paid attention to what the soldiers over there are going through. It is finally becoming obvious to the public that the right does not care about a) military personnel and b) american workers. Actions are speaking louder than words right now.
