Philippines to suspend deployment of civilian drivers in Iraq
MANILA: The Philippines will not allow its nationals to seek work as drivers in Iraq because of the poor security situation and will set up evacuation centres there for those wanting to return.

"In the very short term, the deployment of OFWs (overseas Filipino workers) to work as drivers in Iraq shall be suspended indefinitely," presidential spokesman Ignacio Bunye told a news conference.

"Voluntary repatriation of OFWs on all sites shall be allowed," Bunye said.

The evacuation centers will be in Mosul, Kirkuk, Tikrit, Fallujah and Ramadi, he said.
