Michael Moore smuggled film crews into Iraq for Fahrenheit 9/11
Film maker Michael Moore revealed he smuggled camera crews into Iraq to film disillusioned U.S. soldiers for his documentary, Fahrenheit 9/11.

Moore was speaking in Cannes, France, where the film will premiere Monday, the BBC reported Saturday.

Moore said he sent the crews into Iraq after disillusioned soldiers wrote to him.

I was able to sneak three different freelance crews into Iraq, he said. The soldiers had expressed disillusionment that they had been lied to.

21. No, I mean the soldiers in F. 9/11. I'm sure Bush will pardon those
people in early January.

Bush might even test constitutional law by being the first president to pardon himself.

18. "There's no such thing as bad publicity" -- P. T. Barnum;
Barnum also told reporters: "Write anything you want about me -- JUST SPELL MY NAME RIGHT!"

And Michael Moore, bless him, has some of Barnum's gift for publicity...

6. I, for one, cannot wait for this film to be released.
The movie's fate seemed uncertain for a while. Disney studios refused to release the Miramax film. Now, it appears that some kind of a deal has been made. This movie apparently covers Mr. Bush's relationship with the Bin Laden family.

Imagine what a ticking time bomb this is. I can see the shovels digging the grave for the Bush administration's hopes for "re"election.

Let's face it, the people who should see the film will not, and the rest of us...well, he'll be preaching to the choir.

13. i don't agree, i think people who are fairly "non political"
will go to the film cuz it will get so much 'buzz' and who knows? may get some apathetic people activated.

I also see some "undecideds" giving the film a look-see too :)

24. You could be right.
Recall Al Franken's book, "lies and the...". Fox News took him to court right before he was going to publish the book. They claimed he could not use the slogan "Fair and balanced" because that was Fox's slogan. A judge denied the request. He said something to the effect of, "You've got to be kidding. A TV station can't go around trying to prevent the publication of this book. You guys are in the business of getting the news out, not squashing it".

The effect of this hearing was Pure Gold for Franken. If his book was relatively unknown before, now everybody wanted to get their claws on it. It boosted his sales by millions.

Maybe the same thing will happen to this movie. Keeping fingers crossed.

16. As long as it's out on video/dvd before the election...
I think those who might not be willing to pony up the $20-30 to see it in the theatre will be more than curious enough to spend $4 and see it on video.

12. Its Win-Win for Moore
If they try to stop the films release it will just crate more Hype for it, If O'Reilly, Hannity, and the other CNN and FOX Repubbies talk about it its more publicty for the film.. The best thing the the Bush Press and GOP can do is shut up and HOPE that it blows over..

According to Variety, Michael Moore has put a year's worth of research into the film. He'll finish it in time to be submitted for the 2004 Cannes Film Festival, and the documentary will be released in time for the presidential election that fall. (Variety)
