Iraker in US-Haft zu Tode gefoltert - Iraqi In Custody Tortured To Death
http://www.spiegel.de/img/0,1020,354401,00.jpg

Iraqi In Custody Tortured To Death

After the shock of the abuse photos, there's a worse new allegation against US troops. Spiegel TV has acquired written and oral documentation indicating that a 47 year old Iraqi was tortured to death in American custody. The Americans are alleged to have attempted to cover the case up.

Spiegel TV Exclusive (Translated by S.B.)
http://www.spiegel.de/politik/ausland/0,1518,299964,00.html

05/15/04 -- Berlin - The case of Asad Abdul Kareem Abdul Jaleel was pure routine for the American troops. After the 47 year old family father died on the US military base Al Asad west of the town of Khan al Baghdad in US custody on January 9th 2004, an American doctor filled out a death certificate. Apparently without doing an examination, and according to the documents, without performing an autopsy, the pathologist Luis A. Santiago wrote that the man had died in his sleep. The US troops handed the body, including the death certificate, over to the International Red Cross shortly thereafter.

American troops had previously arrested the respected family patriarch on an open road and taken him to the American military base Al Asad west of the town of Khan al Baghdad. Ostensibly there was suspicion that he belonged to the Iraqi resistance. The soldiers are alleged to have put enormous pressure on Asad Abdul Kareem Abdul Jaleel in the base prison. Another prisoner gave Spiegel TV a detailed description of how the 47 year old was tortured in a sadistic manner for five days. The witness says that the soldiers also took photographs of the abuse.

Asad Abdul Kareem Abdul Jaleel died in US detention on January 9th of this year. However, there are grave doubts about the version that claims his death to have been from natural causes. An Iraqi forensic pathologist who took the body over from the US armed forces confirmed to Spiegel TV in Baghdad that he diagnosed definite torture marks on the body of the deceased. In addition, photos of the deceased confirm that contrary to the US documentation, an autopsy had been performed on the man. The scars on the torso indicate that Western doctors did the autopsy.

Deep Dark Bruises on the Entire Body

Even a layman can easily recognize the obvious effects of violence on the pictures of the body: Large, dark bruises that could come from beatings can be seen on both sides of the body. On the wrists and ankles there are bruises, which presumably date back to many days of captivity. There are bruises from beatings or other forms of violent impact on the back. Other lacerations on the upper body point to injuries which can hardly be called "natural".

2. AAAAAAUUUUUUGHHHH!!!! how can you un-see something so horrible?
we really, really, really need a president who has seen war first-hand and never wants atrocities to happen again. not a kid with an a-bomb in each hand saying "do what i say or my friends will beat you up... saddam threatened my daddy!"

i place the blame for this squarely on the shoulders of child bush. now someone please put him in the corner and make him stay after school and write "i will not screw up the world" one trillion times.

4. US troops tortured prisoner to death: report
"The photographs of the corpse, which Spiegel TV has also seen, indicate the man was tortured," it said, adding that the body also appeared to have undergone an autopsy using "Western methods".

It said the man was a married father of seven, including seven-month-old twins.

Employees of the Iraqi medical examination institute in Baghdad told Spiegel TV that they had seen other torture victims among the corpses handed over to them by the International Committee of the Red Cross on behalf of the US military.

Spiegel TV said that Iraqi coroners were told not to conduct an autopsy if an American death certificate was provided, even if the cause of death appeared not to correspond to the injuries.

I'm sitting here crying. He's dead because we went there. And his family has every reason to hate every one of us forever.

6. Unforgivable
We have brutally killed a man, and for what reason? Was his crime being an Iraqi? And after all we've done, our insane, blood drunk idiot of a pResident still claims to have right on his side, and claims he is led by God.

We have lost our souls, and the respect of the world community, for letting our leaders commit these atrocities. It is critical that we turn out in such numbers in November to get rid of *, and his henchmen, that even Diebold can't get away with rigging the election results.

We need to make his defeat so overwhelming that there is not the slightest hint of a question about the outcome. As ordinary citizens, this is the only step we can take to regain some measure of respect in the world.

9. looks like the US is killing the detainees by the DOZENS.....
<snip>

The US Army Remains Silent

About five bodies with US Armed Forces death certificates are handed over every week in Baghdad alone, according to the employees of the Institute. The established practice of the Americans is to declare bodies that come from the prison at Abu Ghuraib as victims of grenade attacks on the camp. This was the case with the bodies of 26 detainees last week, even though only some of the bodies showed injuries typical of grenade attacks, the employees said.

12. Welcome to the Hague Mr. Bush

Mohammed Zadian, 45, said he was detained for four months and also hung from a wall by his hands for hours while he was “asked to confess that I attacked the American forces”.

He added: “I saw them attach electric wires to the tongue and the genitals of my cousin. They also used to give me a box of food and made me carry it around for six hours without putting it down.”

Mohammed Khazal Al Moussawi, 31, who was held for eight months, said he went into the prison weighing 117kg and came out more than 30kg lighter.

“One of the soldiers told the prisoners that if it was in his hands, he would kill all the Iraqis,” he said.

Another man, Muthani Mahmoud Salim, 25, from Baghdad, said they would target sheikhs being held. “They used to dress them like woman and tour the prison and the soldiers used to laugh and joke at them,” he said.

The allegations could not be independently verified.

15. Will this photo and story be on the TV "news" tonight?
Or, will the Network Nazis censor it?

All we've seen about the torture stories are limited hang-outs. The TV has lied from beginning, with words and terms like "abuse". "simulated sex ", and "menaced by dogs".

The ugly reality is that it was mostly torture, beatings, forced sex acts, and mauled and severely injured (or murdered?) by attack dogs.

The TV networks have promoted Bush with their lies for four years.

16. The way to use English in a different way!!!!!!!!!!
English lesson for our leaders
May 12, 2004

THE BUSH administration seems to have a serious problem with reality. The most recent reality challenge is the policy of torture in both Iraq and Afghanistan, which the administration is frantically redefining as "abuse," "excesses," and "humiliation." We even have Secretary Rumsfeld describing footage of several American soldiers "having sex" with a female Iraqi prisoner. Let's have a little plain English here. "Having sex" with a prisoner is known as "rape." Systematic beatings are called "torture." Excesses that lead to death are called "murder." The hundreds of women and children in mass graves in Fallujah are the product of a "massacre." Taken together, all of these add up to "atrocities."

The dissemination of "incomplete information" from "imperfect intelligence" is called "lies." The billions of dollars that Halliburton and Bechtel have reaped in profits are called "war profiteering." The invasion of Iraq is called "illegal." The destruction of America's international standing is called "permanent." And Texaco/Phillips's high bid for Iraqi oil is called "why we are in Iraq."
