agents, not even the minimum they have been allotted funds for, and when they
are hired, they are not allowed to translate intelligence documents.

Duh HUH???????

that is not sounding good. Does the cabal have another attack in the works that
they dont want to warn the American people of........what - in time for the usurper's
election?

2. oh, it all makes sense...
when you realize is that the goal isn't to stop terrorist attacks against the US...

..it's to sorta look like you're working to prevent attacks, but leaving room for a few attacks to help terrorize the US public into re-electing ShrubCo.

That's why the FBI translaters get short shrift, why the sky marshal program and TSA is short of funds, why chemical plants and air freight don't get attention.

The repugs will whine "it costs money!" but they're perfectly willing to spend more than 10 times as much to prosecute an unnecessary war and occupation, and 100 times as much to give fat tax cuts to their buddies.

But the fact is, the more terrorized the public is, the more Karl Rove smiles.

3. it's incredible that Congress has to have hearings and FORCE
bush* to do even the minimal requirements to prevent terrorism, two years since the 9/11 attackes and bush* still doesn't have employees who can speak Arabic...recently, just to stop the removal of marshalls on airplanes...and, the constant Congressional battles to get money for our emergency responders...and the Congressional actions to open the very late 9/11 BLACKED-OUT report, so we can learn and prevent additional attacks...most of this SHOULD have been done TWO years ago...

it appears that bush* is actually doing everything possible to encourage another attack, and keep our country totally unable to respond or prevent it....

4. can`t trust people
who speak more than one langauge..esp. arabic. also they probaly can`t clear most arab agents because they can`t go far enough into their backgrounds...or they don`t give as shit if they know what`s going on.

5. If I can hazard a guess--
--such positions require highest security clearances. There is currently a 2 to 3-year backlog on clearance requests: an issue that SOMEONE in this damn town had better start addressing because the system has all but broken down. If you can't process clearances, you can't put these people on payroll.

It's an outrage, but no one is doing anything about it. The situation keeps getting worse. Qualified people don't have 2 years to sit around on their hands. And since, presumably, many of those qualified retain ties to the Middle East and are native speakers of Arabic, the security investigators probably regard them with a great deal of suspicion, which only prolongs the whole thing.

I really do think it's a case of gov't bureacracy being our own worst enemy but where Ashcroft is concerned, hell, nothing would surprise me.

7. Can Anyone Explain To Me ...
... why another attack on the U.S. would be GOOD for DimBoy?

I'd think just the opposite. That with all the Homeland Security, color coding, Patriot Acts, Victory Acts, illegal incarcerations, wars in 2 countries, and gazillions of $$$s spent ---- * can't protect the U.S.

(Of course, to be perfectly honest about it, I don't think any person or agency can completely prevent a terrorist attack. All the bombs, guns, tanks, ships, helicopters & troops are no protection against 3 guys and some Semtex in their basement).

9. His ratings were highest right after 9/11
Doesn't mean that your analysis wouldn't be right, but these guys have to be looking back at those approval ratings with longing.
