A defiant Tony Blair today dismissed claims he might stand down over the war in Iraq and vowed instead to "carry on" for a full third term.
The Prime Minister attacked as "froth" recent speculation that unease among Labour MPs could force him to hand over to Gordon Brown.
Ending days of silence on his future, Mr Blair stressed that he would not step aside nor distance himself from President Bush.
"I think I should get on with the job. I enjoy doing it," he said. Every time you come out and meet people in the real world and see what their problems are, you realise how much you can do to deal with them and why it is right to carry on."
