Rumsfeld to Troops: We're So Proud
http://www.katc.com/Global/story.asp?S=1865064&nav=EyAzN5wB

BAGHDAD, Iraq (FNC/AP) — Defense Secretary Donald Rumsfeld made a surprise visit to Baghdad on Thursday, visiting the prison at the center of an Iraqi prisoner abuse scandal and telling U.S. troops that President Bush is proud of what they're doing there.

"We wanted to have a chance to look you folks in the eye to tell you how proud we are and what a wonderful job you folks are doing," Rumfeld told the troops.

Rumsfeld said he told Bush about a possible trip to Iraq on Monday.

"He said to give you his respect — he knows what your doing, it's noble work, he knows its important, he values it and appreciates it and wanted to send his personal regards," Rumsfeld said.

Rumsfeld was accompanied by Gen. Richard Myers, chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, and several lawyers on a trip designed to reassure U.S. troops and to get first-hand reports from the most senior commanders.

1. Proud of the military
It isn't the GI's fault, but proud of what?
From what I can tell, our military in Iraq spends it's time holed up in forts and compounds, venturing out only for resupply, and making an occasional raid to kill a few "insurgents" with a few innocents mixed in.

We're so Proud?

I'm sure the troops aren't happy about the management. Rumy and Bush got them into this jackpot with their sadistic racist bias.

5. Rumsfeld at Camp Redemption
as it will now be called. Cute. Rumsfeld sends Bush regards to the troops, he knows they are doing 'noble' work protecting those prisoners swept off the streets, thrown into a rotten prison to be subject to the worst kind of abuse. The Bushco guys just can't find it in their souls to be contrite or remorseful regarding the horrible events created by their very personal wars against the Afghanistan and Iraqi people. Haven't these subhuman warmongers ever heard the saying 'pride goeth before the fall'?

7. Did anyone see 60 Min II last night? The troops hate Iraq. They hate
how the US is treating them. They are NOT being taken care of. They don't have supplies.

11. I was just thinking that
We aren't supposed to compare Bush to Hitler; but these actions make it hard not to compare Rumsfeld to Himmler.

13. I agree with the Himmler comparison...
Although wouldn't he be closer to Goering?

Afterall, they both look like they comb their hair with bacon.

12. Translation: "I am proud of the job I am doing for you troops."
He's doing really basic psychology by associating his trials and tribulations with that of the heroic troops, and joining their fates at the hip.

Rumsfeld's defeat is now the military's defeat, therefore, he shall not be defeated, at all costs.

Or as I prefer to put it, the politics of the penis.

They have no reason to believe that anything more complicated is necessary.

16. I very much agree
I am proud of the troops and they are doing a wonderful job for a cuase we cannot give up on. That said, I have serious concerns with how Rumsfeld has conducted himself during the war effort.

17. "and several lawyers "
Lawyers???

He sounds more like a mafia Don every day. Now he can't even travel and do his job without a team of lawyers accompanying him.

18.  on either side of Rumsfeldt
was a soldier with a rifle.

How many more were on the perimeter of the room?

The fact that they cannot appear before their own
military without armed guards in the room says it all.
