BBC: Bush backs 'superb' war chief

President George W Bush has said that his embattled Defence Secretary Donald Rumsfeld is doing a "superb job".

Speaking to reporters after a briefing at the Pentagon on the situation in Iraq, Mr Bush thanked Mr Rumsfeld for his "leadership".

Mr Bush is backing Mr Rumsfeld, despite growing calls for his resignation over the prisoner abuse scandal.

Military newspaper the Army Times has joined in with an editorial in effect calling on Mr Rumsfeld to be sacked.

Obviously, Bushco has very low standards. But, what can you expect. I can bet though, that the world opinion of * will really go down the drain. If they had any respect left...
