Bush says he's earned re-election
Between Lebanon, Ohio, and Cincinnati — Sitting in a leather captain's chair and tossing back a throat lozenge as his Bush-Cheney campaign bus rolled toward Cincinnati, President Bush told reporters Tuesday he has earned re-election.

"We've been through war, we've been through emergency, we've been through corporate scandals and things are better. Things are improving," he said. "They are not as good as they will be, but as we sit here in May 2004, I can say the life of the Ohio citizen is improving. The fundamental question is who'll put policies in place to make sure that it continues to improve beyond the election cycle."

Without naming John Kerry, his Democratic opponent, Bush, his voice cracking from two days of continuous speechmaking, said he welcomed the "contest of ideas."

9. Re-ELECTION? He's never been elected...
Bush is still in denial of a set of facts..

He was unjustly appointed to a presidency that he never earned.

5. But was he elected the first time?
Seems to me he deserves so much more than just being the president.
I would not want to have his karma.

"We've been through war, we've been through emergency, we've been through corporate scandals and things are better. Things are improving,"

These are things that he is responsible for to one degree or another - he needs to mention the deficits he ran up and the environmental disasters too.

And how are things improving?

Interesting.

Hmmm ... "tossing back a throat lozenge"?

:wtf:

"Tossing back a Bud" or "tossing back a cold beer" maybe but a throat lozenge??

Either you guys have a nifty new euphemism for "alcoholic beverage" or

Both of us have precisely equal post numbers at 452. Of course, my saying so now makes it 453, but you will be at 453 soon. Odds are 1,000 to 1 for the first match.

93. You probably will.
It took me about 18 months to reach 450 posts, but I do find myself posting more often. The 1000 to 1 odds refers to the first match of 452-452, the probability of two 3-digit numbers being a match on the first try (actually 999 to 1). Subsequent matches are more likely now that the 452-452 match has been established. Good luck!

once to earn re-election. HA! Furthermore, he has NOT earned it.

What HAS EARNED is a prison sentence - and a very long one at that.

He's screwed up everything in and outside of this country and he needs to be FIRED and put in PRISON - for incomptetence, negligence, lack of ethics, lying, crimes against humanity, and other high crimes and misdemeanors. He should wear a striped suit. His prisoner number?

42. More like a piece of laziness.
Laziness that comes from never having to work in your life. Being born rich and comfortable makes people weak in character. Some overcome it, like John Kerry. But Bush has never stepped up to the plate in his life. He is a weakling mentally and morally. His parents are much to blame for raising such a worthless cretin.

46. "Piece of shit" sums it up better for me.
It's fascinating, actually. A real case study.

Here we have a complete train-wreck of a human being - IN CHARGE. At least he's being true to his track record.

Think of the three (count 'em, THREE) oil companies - TEXAS oil companies - HELLO!? - driven into a ditch - while HE was at the helm. What could do that? Bad management? Disorganization? Too much delegation so the delegator-in-chief doesn't have to bother with any of the work? Too much self-flattery and then fiddling while everything burns? And, lately, LITERALLY the warden's asleep so the inmates run wild? Look at his track record. Sammy Sosa gets traded from the Texas Rangers - while HE was at the helm. The state of Texas left in complete disarray once he's gone from there? Which got there while HE was at the helm? What else could we expect from him at the highest heights? Just that much more he can screw up.

All we're seeing now is a PRESIDENTIAL-LEVEL version of things he already screwed up in lesser venues and lower-powered positions. Except now, he gets an entire country - and because it's the most powerful country - the entire PLANET to fuck up. He's now fucked up THREE countries. Iraq, Afghanistan, and the US. Well, FOUR if you count Great Britain. He's a one-person demolition derby. A one-person sink-hole. He drags down everybody he touches - like a human ball and chain.

His esteemed mother once was quoted, I believe, as once saying she didn't think he'd amount to much. Turns out our entire country will not amount to much, by the time he gets through with us.

george, you ARE deserving. But HARDLY of another four years. At least not four years in the Oval Office. Four years in Leavenworth would be more appropriate. For starters.

Ha-ha-ha-ha-ha-ha-ha!!!!! Not to mention the fact that he comes right out and admits that things are not as good (now) as they will be(?), how has this country improved since he has been President?! *crickets chirping* Lets see here, we lost +/-3000 people in a coordinated terrorist attack that Bush appears to not have acted aggressively enough to prevent, we launched an unnecessary war on false (or at least HIGHLY dubious premises) against a third-world country that did not nor could not threaten us resulting in a hellish occupation-without-end that has resulted in the death of 6-700 US troops, the economy has been bad for as long as I can remember, layoffs and outsourcing (which appears to be considered a good thing according to Bush) are rampant, we have US citizens designated "enemy combatants" (read:enemy of the state) languishing in military brigs deprived of any due process. Can anybody here point to ANY one way that Bush has worked to improve this country thus making him "deserving" of being re-elected?! I'm waiting for an answer!!!!

64. ...and let's not forget -
The Chimp also wrecked....

the environment and three decades worth of environmental protection laws.....

any attempt to support public education, by mandating an unfunded and incredibly stupid and wrong-headed ideology called "No Child Left Behind".... (I guess the fact that it was left unfunded is the only point in its favor, as it will be impossible to enact the stupid legislation, although it would have been simpler to just skip the whole thing....)

scientific study, data, and debate, by altering and suppressing data that doesn't support his fundamentalist religious ideology...

health care, by promising to expand access but instead pouring hundreds of millions into "abstinence only" faith-programs (yes, that will really halt the diabetes epidemic, good work george....)

numerous other departments, including Health and Human Services, which is now in complete disarray and dysfunction, thanks to his replacement of long-time personnel with brainless ideologues....

It will take decades to dig out of the damage the Chimp has caused in three short years. Give him four more and we can just throw in the towel.

I staged that 9-11 deal brilliantly to toss everyone off balance while
I passed more policies to allow some great corporate profits and made it all perfectly legal. While I was at it I made sure those corporations wouldn't get their asses in a sling in that worthless international court or any other court while they rape the ME during that war.

Now how the hell do you think all that will continue if I don't get re-selected?

45. For what? Incompetence, selfishness, and shamelessness?
The most outrageous thing about this administration is that it's so obviously incompetent and short-sighted, yet its members prance around telling us that it's improving our overall situation and besides, even if what they told us 12 months ago was wrong, wrong, wrong, it wasn't a mistake to do anything that they've done in the past three or so years.

Somehow it slipped their notice that 100,000 people marched through the streets of London during Bush's state visit to the U.K. and told this country exactly what they think of our alleged president.

53. Classic corporate ad tactic: Sell Your Weaknesses.
In the spirit of the Big Lie being more successful than the small lie, corporations have learned to actually advertise their weaknesses to cover up their crimes.

So ExxonMobil advertises environmentalism.
Phillip Morris advertises helping families and abused women.
Auto companies advertise freedom instead of debt.
Wall Street advertises opportunity in a fixed system.

It's the Orwellian principle deployed because it works!

Destroy the Bill of Rights with the Patriot Act.
Gut environmental regs with the Clear Skies Act.

Now Bush* can say he helped us through adversity when he really BROUGHT us adversity.

Absolutely classic mind-fuck technique. Fascinating, like a car-wreck.

56. He really needs AAA
Arrogant Assholes Anonymous

How clueless can one man be? This morning I heard a radio news broadcast about his speaking on Arabian TV with regard to the recent torture of Iraqi captives. I nearly puked when he said it was disrespectful and unAmerican.

When has he ever been respectful of anyone who thought differently from the repiglican party?

Someone please tell me what this jackass who bought and forced his way into the White House knows of respect...

57. Psych 101: The fact he said this means he is going down.
No humility here. The idiot thinks he has earned re-election. He will be rejected by the voters. This is counting your chickens before they're hatched.
This is an unusual thing to say, betraying a lack of confidence. I smell desparate spinning, grasping at straws.

I am really worried about the Diebold boxes working properly (or accurately) How can regime change occur if the vote is fixed again? Do we just have blind faith? Anyone else worried? P.S. I live in Florida...

70. I hate to sound like a "Doomsday Dem", but * and his administration
will not give up their power. Regardless of the election results, he will have at least 4 more years. Kerry will win 53-47% of the popular and the electorate as well, but some, if not all, of the dirty tricks you mentioned in your post WILL occur.
I hate to think this way but these guys are facists and have had their way with the country and the world, and they want MORE!

72. HE caused the "war". HE caused the scandals. HE created the emergencies.
It is not his "responsibility" - it's his fucking FAULT!

If he wasn't appointed to his position, and Gore was rightfully President, none of this would have happened.

But then again, HE believes he was choosen by god.

He's an idiot/criminal/thug - who cares what he thinks - we all knew long ago - and the vast majority of us REJECTED him and his thoughts.

76. Over my dead body will * be elected!
He has been a singular disater and has done more to destroy the reputation of the US as the beacon of freedom in the world His policies, as a whole make no economic or political sense unless the end result is to control the resources of sovereign countries through destabilization (except for Israel; note am I not an anti-semite because I disagree with the actions of the 51st state), dumb down the American populace by underfunding education and practising trickle up economics. They actually believe we are tools to be used to enrich themselves and for the most part we let them get away with it!

77. It all boils down to one of three things..
Are we going to play follow the Leader and blindly walk into the abyss?

Or are we going to put a stop to this charade and at least try circulating a petition (or a referendum) for Impeachment around the country, thereby bypassing the House of Representatives?

Or are we just going to sit here, day in and day out, complaining we've been outfoxed, outmaneuvered, omarosaed and do nada?

78. Does he deserve some credit for achieving the impossible?
Ecclesiastes 6.8 For what hath the wise more than the fool? what hath the poor, that knoweth to walk before the living?

7.4 The heart of the wise is in the the house of mourning; but the heart of fools is in the house of mirth.

7.5 It is better to hear the rebuke of the wise, than for a man to hear the song of fools.

7.6 For as the crackling of thorns under a pot, so is the laughter of the fool: this is also vanity.

7.7 Surely oppression maketh a wise man mad; and a gift destroyeth the heart.

10.2 A wise man's heart is at his right hand: but a fool's heart at his left.

10.3 Yea also, when he that is a fool walketh by the way, his wisdom faileth him, and saith to every one that he is a fool.

10.12 The words of a wise man's mouth are gracious; but the lips of a fool will swallow him up himself.

10.13 The beginning of the words of his mouth is foolishness: and the end of his talk is mischievous madness.

We'd probably disagree on exactly what he's earned, but damn has he ever earned it.

Is everything the "president" says disgusting, incoherent, and/or absolutely pregnant with irony? Enough I say! Enough!

83. Bush Jr. has been my personal nightmare since November of 2000.
I've suffered far too many sleepless nights these last three years. So Bush believes he has earned "re-election/selection". I don't think so, not in my nightmares. (I actually had a nightmare about Bush last weekend and ended up falling out of bed trying to come out of it!).

We the people of this country deserve so much more, at least I like to believe we do. Maybe though we don't, there are so many that don't even have a clue or seem to even want to find one.
