GQ Exclusive: Colin Powell Wants Out
Edited on Tue May-04-04 01:23 PM by maddezmom
GQ Magazine on Powell's Frustration With the Bush
Administration, His Battles With the Pentagon,
His 'Real' Relationship With Vice President Dick Cheney,
and Whether He'll Return For a Second Term

NEW YORK, May 4 /PRNewswire/ -- Secretary of State Colin Powell is
exhausted, frustrated, and bitter, uncomfortable with President George W.
Bush's agenda, and fatigued from his battles with the Pentagon, reports GQ
magazine writer-at-large Wil S. Hylton in the June 2004 issue of GQ magazine.
Hylton's exclusive article, "Casualty of War," in which he talks with Powell
and his closest friends and colleagues openly and on the record, is available
online at http://www.gq.com.

taking notes, saving files.... who knows.

Maybe he'll drop off the ticket and come clean.......... right before the election. It all depends on, privately, how dusgruntled he really is. If he's really pissed, he might well decide to turn himself into a known and acknowledged Deep Throat.

47. This is the TIME not 6 mos from now..
Powell doesn't have the luxury of time. When you've turned against the Bush Cartell, you end up having a heart attack, stroke or mysterious, fatal, car wreck.

Heck, even now, the spinners could sell an assassination as "Well, we're not suprised, Colin was receiving 100s of threatening e-mails every day." Blaming this whole Lying War on Him.

56. Is Powell the Gen.Powell who authorized transfer of 4,000 TOW missles
to Oliver North`s group for sale to AYATOLLAH KHOMENIE`S IRAN ? Why was that sale of dangerous weapons to a self declared enemy of the U.S. not considered an act of treason? Anyone remember the IRAN-CONTRA affair. George the 1st was Reagan`s V.P., and many believe is the one who initiated that whole disaster. These Shrubs have a long record of this. There is a book that has been around a while that covers these and other stories. Go To: < www.tarpley.net >. Then click onto Geo.Shrub: The unauthorized BIO. It`s a great read with much info as to the Shrubs and the Nazis and a Gen. Powell authorizing the transfer of 4,000 TOW missles. ...Oscar

Now this is a great show on Powells part.

He got to play with BushCo and instead of being tarnished for being a member of the team, now, he looks like a victim. So, he does not lose his centrist fans. Plus, he can get out instead of being kicked out. Well, let's say, he beat them too the punch and now they look like suckas.

Well played Powell, well played.

Powell is a shrewd MoFo. He may have beat BushCo at their own game. You know BushCo set him up to take the fall for that Roadmap bullshit. So he played them back and will end up being the better for it.

17. Powell is a traitor
The only way out for him should be in day-glo overalls. It boggles my mind that someone can so overtly abuse the trust of his position, severely damaging the efficacy of American diplomacy and state interests, and still get a sympathetic free ride from the citizens he was sworn to serve.

It's no wonder our leaders think nothing of promoting their corrupt agenda over the interests of the country. The worst that can happen is the loss of their direct political privilege. Like gamblers with infinite credit whose only fear is to be kicked out of the casino for cheating.

There's a commericial containing a blurb by Liddy:

The Democrats just pay lip service to African Americans.

The Republicans have put an African American in the upper echelons of the Bush Administration.

The National Security Advisor is Black.

So is the Secretary of State.

And what do you hear from the Democrats? Only complaints!! Complaints when Bush should be congratulated!!!

Especially from that socialist Harry Belafonte!!!

he knows what's coming down the pike, that the Bush regime is imploding, that there may even be indictments.

This is a way to put plausible denial out there. To try to distance himself from the war criminals.

To try to retain a shred of credibility among the wider population (who don't know his real history...)

29. Like Arlen Specter, Colin Powel deserves disgrace
for putting his prestige behind something he didn't support in the first place.

Both of these "moderate" republicans will do ANYTHING to advance their careers and stay in the halls of power. Their later protestations of doubt or discomfort are meaningless.

This reminds of of Specter saying later that "if he'd known" what kind of a Supreme Court Justice Clarence Thomas was going to be, he might have had some doubts.

There must be a certain particular section of hell resesrved for this kind of traitor.

He had to know the deal then. He didn't even say anything "shocking", just reminded the people that the thugs haven't been a party open to African-Americans and they (repubs) needed to do a better job of embracing, big tent, tolerance...yada, yada, yada.

The delegates of a few states were pissed! Enough to walk out of his speech. Others turned their heads away or talked rudely throughout. Colin Powell knew what he was getting into. He did sell out. There was no way the Bush admin. was going to let him have any kind of power. He was their puppet.

55. This from the article blew my mind
"Four days!" Armitage practically shouted when I mentioned Powell's visit to the CIA. "Four days! And three nights! The secretary is a man of honor! He values being credible. To be credible, you have to be able to stand behind what you say. That's why he fieldstripped it. Just like, you ever heard of fieldstripping cigarettes back in Nam?" He was referring to the process of tearing up smoked cigarettes so they will decompose quickly and leave no trace for the enemy. "That means tear it up and shake the tobacco that's left to the wind," Armitage said. "He fieldstripped it."

So he "fieldstripped" the lies, but they still got exposed the next day. These people are out of their depth.

58. Here is another unbelievable paragraph
I got a small but precious glimpse of the show when, shortly after I interviewed Colin Powell, I met with Condoleezza Rice in her office at the White House, a bright and white and airy room that looked like a wedding cake turned inside out, where Rice sat prim and pretty beneath an Impressionist painting in a black business suit and bright red lipstick, smiling politely as she lied through her teeth about the war between the State Department and the Pentagon, as though no such conflict could possibly exist, not in her immaculate White House, and the century-long battle between the two agencies had, in fact, come to a screeching halt on January 20, 2001, when she and the Texan came to town.

Hylton has Condi's act figured out, but it is a rare journalist that will point it out for the public.

60. Powell`s involvement in sale of 4,000 TOW missles to Iran
is noted in Webster Tarpley and Anton Chaitkin`s " Geo. Bush: The Unauthorized Bio.. To read about it go to < www.tarpley.net >. Then click The unauthorized Bio.,then click chapter XVIII-Iran-Contra. This chapter is laid out in chronilogical order, so scroll down to Jan.18,1986. As always these 2 authors carefully footnote every statement they make and this is footnote # 4. at the end of that chapter [ Report of the Congressional Committee Investigating Iran Contra Affair...... This is an important book full of facts about the Bush family and thier cohorts. For instance then Gen Powell was working as then Defense Sec. Casper Weinberger`s senior military assistant at that time. Many of the Names of the different people referenced still are very active in much of what is going on in the current Admin..
