More Iraqis Allege Abuse by U.S. Military
ABU GHRAIB, Iraq (Reuters) - With six U.S. soldiers reprimanded and six others facing criminal charges, Iraq's prisoner-abuse scandal looked far from over Tuesday as more Iraqis came forward to allege maltreatment by U.S. troops.

"If the Americans ever come back to detain me I will commit suicide before I am taken to this place again," Sha'aban al-Janabi, a former prisoner, said as he pointed at the notorious Abu Ghraib jail on the outskirts of Baghdad.

Abdullah al-Dulaimi, who was standing outside Abu Ghraib trying to get information about two brothers detained there, said he had been held in a detention center near the border with Syria for a month in January.

He says he was once put in something called the "coffin," a wooden box too short to stand up in, for two days. He says he was also frequently beaten and had electrical wires attached to his penis.

"We were beaten, deprived of sleep and humiliated," he said.

These stories are only beginning I fear. I don't know what the hell kind of world I am living in, let alone my "fellow countrymen".

1. need Independant Investigation
Don Rumsfeld, Paul Wolfowitz, and General Richard Myers all "toured" the Abu Ghraib prison last year. Did they go to cell block 1A? This reaches to them, I think they were so desperate to "find" their imaginary WMD's, they gave the ok to use any means necessary.

6. Rumsfeld was there right before his Uday and Qusay wax figures appeared
Very fishy that. Perhaps he just picked up a couple of detainees from the jail to make up his grusome tableaux. Many people thought that the corpses did not closely resemble the brothers.

3. Dammit, what the hell was going on over there.????
Now more ex prisoners are coming forth with simistories of abuse and torture.

Our good American Name has been sullied no end.

It will take the American President to Apologize then Resign en mass. In Japan, it would be Sempuku, with Cheney as the Second.

4. I heard a NY Times Middle East rep[orter on NPR this morning
hinting that they are only beginning to scratch the surface of the abuse. He claimed that there are reports of women prisoners being raped and teens being sexually abused in the prisons.

He also mentioned an e-mail he received from a Princeton educated pro-American Saudi friend who compared the pictures to the lynching pictures from the old South with laughing whites as blacks were being lynched.

I think this story is only just beginning to get legs.

9. don't bet on it
already you can notice the missing story in the headline lineup. woke up this morning and turned on faux, and not one headline in the list of about 8, mentioned abu ghraib. cnn & msGOP are still downplaying it as if it's a story that doesn't have legs.

i think it's more like they're downplaying it because of how embarrasing it is.

8. I think their dream was them up and the rest of us down
Royalty like the Bushes (and Kerry too by the way) must idealise the days when they could just do what they liked with the sheeple. Droite de Seigneur was definitely what they had in mind for Iraqis. We in the English speaking Homelands were to be tagged, tracked, forcibly injected and. if they felt like it, imprisoned (and tortured 'cos it's fun and you can sell the pics) without evidence or process of law. I'm not sorry that it's all going wrong.

10. It seems as though the Iraqis treated their American hostage
better than the Americans treated their prisoners.
