'10 to 20 children a month' disappear in Madagascar

Seven people have been arrested in Madagascar on suspicion of trafficking children through a bogus adoption scheme, police said late on Monday, adding that a worrying number of babies are disappearing in the Indian Ocean island.

Police said the arrests were made on April 30, about a fortnight after four people were detained on similar charges when 11 babies with false papers were found in the charge of an old woman among those held.

"We have managed to break up another international adoption network," Rabetafika Fulgence, who heads a police department dealing with protecting minors, told a news conference.

"Seven people, including a doctor, the head of a registered international adoption centre and a social worker, were taken into custody at Antananarivo's central prison," he said.

2. There is something to this story

If the children are disapearing where are they going? Probably to secret gulag offshore factories of major corporations for cheap labor. Don't forget that child labor was rampid in capitalist west as recent as early 1900s. U.N. should look more into this great travesty that industrial giants are supporting. (hint: U.S.)

4. Profitting by stealing and selling babies,...

,...how freakin' sick is that!!!!

Although I know that not so very long ago, similar schemes were being run in the US where profiteers would pay some poor woman five hundred to a thousand bucks for her baby then sell the child for ten thousand. It's only been within the last 20 years or so that states have been enacting laws to regulate that crap.
