Draft unlikely soon but hot topic now
http://www.sfgate.com/cgi-bin/article.cgi?f=/c/a/2004/05/02/MNG386BBVN55.DTL

For an idea that has little chance of becoming law -- at least for the foreseeable future -- a proposal to reinstate the military draft has stirred up a spirited, growing debate.

Bush administration officials and congressional leaders adamantly deny they have any plan to reinstate the draft, which ended with the induction of the last Army conscript in June 1973. But with about 135,000 U.S. troops in Iraq, there is a persistent undercurrent of fear among many in the public that the days of the draft are returning.

<snip>

While Rumsfeld dismisses the idea, those who might be affected are paying attention. The student newspaper at San Francisco State University, for example, ran a major story last month on Rangel's proposal and discussion of the draft. Democratic presidential candidate Sen. John Kerry was quizzed repeatedly by college students on the prospects for a draft during a campaign swing through campuses several weeks ago.

5. Right now, 'soon' means till November 2.
Any plans for beyond that date are classified.

3. Since 30% of the existing forces are reserves...
and will be released eventually by law, and the Cabal
still has many countries to conquer, I'd say they
are planning another "event" to make a draft necessary,
to keep us safe and all. They will admit that they said
there would be no draft, but ask us to realize that things
have changed in light of what ever demented thing they
have planned against us to justify the need.
That is my latest theory on the topic anyway...

6. These guys sure have a shortened sense of what
"foreseeable future" means.

July 2005 sure is foreseeable to me.

7. Anybody who trusts *
to say anything true is delusional. He has lied about everything else, what makes people think he's telling the truth now? He is, indeed, the worst president ever.

8. Remember, these "denials" are coming from the same people,
who hadn't "made up their minds" about invading Iraq, the same guy who was going to be "a uniter, not a divider."

Adament denial is as good as a sure thing with the Bush mis-administration.
