Quake Sways Buildings in Taiwan Capital

TAIPEI, Taiwan (AP) - An earthquake shook buildings in the Taiwanese capital Saturday, the Central Weather Bureau said, but no damage or casualties were immediately reported.

The magnitude-5.8 quake was centered on the island's east coast, 4.3 miles west from the town of Hsincheng, the weather bureau said.

3. Two dead after quake in Taiwan

Taipei - Two people were killed by falling rocks and tourists were stranded after a bridge collapsed when an earthquake measuring 5.8 on the Richter scale shook mountainous in eastern Taiwan on Saturday.

The rockslide struck a small truck on a winding highway in east Taiwan's Taroko Gorge National Park, killing the driver and a passenger, a disaster response official said.
