Supporters Plan Ronald Reagan University
2 hours, 33 minutes ago Add U.S. National - AP to My Yahoo!

DENVER - Supporters of Ronald Reagan (news - web sites) have begun raising money to establish a university in his name in Colorado.

Organizers hope to create a general university with medical and law schools and a graduate school of public and international policy. They want to open by 2010 with 10,000 students and 2,000 faculty members and staff.

The organizers have already received 200 acres of donated land with a view of the Rocky Mountains near Denver.

"Because he had a vision of a shining city on the hill, I want us to be on a rolling plain, looking at the Front Range," Terry Walker, the university's founding president, said Monday.

but you didn't read the article, this 'unversity' *cough* will not accept federal funds, so they can discriminate. What I love is that they somehow think they're coming up with, quite literally, several BILLION dollars for this project in the next decade. Few real foundations will support this, they have a 850 milion dollar construction budget, and will not accept federal financial aid? they are ambitious, I'll give them that.

17. Reagan is a hero
to these folks because they have no one else. The last reThug president before Reagan that was historically memorable for a success is Teddy Roosevelt. Eisenhower is more highly regarded for what he did before he was President.

Not that I think Reagan was all that much of a success, but compared to the long list of losers that came before him, he is a giant. Look at the 2 reThugs that followed him in office, of course the guy there now has a real shot at becoming regarded as the worst President ever.

29. I used to tell a joke ....
to my students. This was LONG before Reagan was diagnosed with Altzheimer's.
(shortened for posting)
Nancy and Ron go to their favorite restaurant . She orders: "Small porterhouse and baked potato". Waiter asks "And the vegetable?"

Nancy says "Oh, he'll have his usual."

It always got a laugh.

Remember... LONG before diagnosis. (I'm a new poster and I don't want to sound crude or offensive... even if I am.)

25. Seriously
You know here in Colorado, the legislature is poised to pass a "voucher" bill that will change the way the state allocates money to public universities: instead of money going directly to the university from the legislature, students will be given "vouchers" worth $2,400 per semester that will follow them to their chosen state university, or vouchers worth $1,200 per semester that will follow students to their chosen PRIVATE university.

Good time to start a private school here. A Reaganite's dream come true.

Also, the $2,400 per semester for public universities is significantly less than what the state's larger four-year universities currently get from taxpayers.

Argh.

And every morning as I drive my the sign at the county line, I give it the one-finger salute!!!

44. Readers Digest School of Foreign Intelligence will now begin.
Anti-nuke activist Dr. Helen Caldicott just gave an interview on AirAmerica Radio where she recounted getting a brief meeting with Raygun.

Ronnie told her that 80% of anti-nuke supporters were Soviet agents. She said "Mr. President, that was in last month's Readers Digest."

He said, "No, that's straight from my best intelligence people."

Amazing how well the Repubs can pick a clueless figurehead to believe the crap they're trying to sell the public. Again and again.

Naming things after them is a big part of the Culture War that they are fucking winning while we all whine,'hey-that's not even true!'

Things don't have to be true to be useful tools of perception. In fact, outright lies seem to work much better here in the No Clue Zone.
