Bush likely to take most 9/11 questions
WASHINGTON -- The White House said Tuesday it expects that President Bush rather than Vice President Dick Cheney will handle most of the questions when they appear jointly Thursday before the commission investigating the terrorist attacks of Sept. 11, 2001.

Despite some sharp exchanges between commission members and other witnesses at earlier sessions, Bush's spokesman said, "You should not look at this as an adversarial process. We are all working toward the same objective here."

Bush and Cheney will meet in a private session with all 10 commission members at the White House Thursday, beginning at 9:30 a.m. EDT. Members will be allowed to take notes of their remarks, but there will not be a stenographer to make a complete record. White House spokesman Scott McClellan said that was similar to the practice followed with other closed-door testimony.

~snip~

Bush had opposed creating the commission and then opposed extending its life, and also had opposed having Rice testify in public. But he subsequently relented on all counts. McClellan said Bush "appreciates the job the commission is doing. He strongly supports the commission's important work."

He said the president "very much looks forward to sitting down with the commission and answering whatever questions they may have."

LOL...must have been practicing his lies, while on vacation. I bet he's "really" looking forward to visiting with the commission.

1. Similar?
Notice how he doesn't say 'the same'. I'd bet my life savings that there were stenographers present at other testimonies. Maybe somebody can sneak in a tape recorder.

8. More spin to help Junior who needs as much help as he can get.
Edited on Tue Apr-27-04 12:35 PM by benfranklin1776
Of course Cheney will be holding his hand and wiping Junior's nose. He is Junior's "official minder."
For anyone who believes that the same man who couldn't handle questions at the press conference that weren't submitted in writing long beforehand will now be answering "the majority of the questions" from the commission, well I have some prime swamp land and Enron stock to sell them.

3. And how are we to confirm this?
The questoining will occur behind closed doors and the transcript, if there is one, will remain out of the public eye. How are we to believe this?

5. They're likely to pull a "switcheroo" & have
bush go in alone and then brag about it. They're not appearing before the entire commission (Clinton & Gore did) only the Chair and co-Chair. They said nothing was leaked but something obviously was because the nutcases at newxmax contacted B.Kerry and said Clinton was lying - now how would they know what Clinton even said? Of course that's never stopped them before, has it?

10. It's changed- they're now meeting the full commission
Enough people cried B.S. about the two people only thing that the WH relented.

This way maybe we'll hear about how the terrible twosome performed.

6. Be sure to watch the "9/11 Commission" episode of
the flash animation "George Bush Show": http://www.ebolaworld.com/mainpage02.html and click on George's head for the menu. Hilarious, and chillingly close to the truth.

18. Kinda contradicts yesterday's spin on NPR
in which the reason given for the joint appearance/ventriloquist show was that, since GeeDub and Crashcart were in two separate locations on 9/11, they could give a more comprehensive timeline of the day's events...

http://www.theledger.com/apps/pbcs.dll/article?AID=/20040426/NEWS/404260365/1039 (not NPR link but same story)
Bush aides have offered a somewhat more detailed explanation. Officials said they see the session as a way to tie together the testimony of many other administration officials. They also said that while the commissioners are free to address any subject, they expect the panel to focus on the actions of Sept. 11, and that because the two were in separate locations, though in constant contact, presenting the narrative jointly would allow for a comprehensive chronology rather than two largely redundant accounts.

"On September 11, the president and vice president were in different locations when these horrific attacks took place, but they were in contact with each other throughout the day," White House press secretary Scott McClellan said. "It makes sense, from that standpoint, to pull together as much as possible."

Hmmm, but Bush is gonna do the talking for Cheney now?

"Dick, you got this handled, right? 'Cuz I am OUTTA HERE! You WILL NOT see me until next week. I've got the pilot blowing chaff outta this plane right now. I've already pissed my pants and I've only got one more pair with me. The only good thing is that Novak is on the plane and he's got a flask, otherwise there would be NO BOOZE and I would have to land this puppy at a liquor store. Adios gringo."

He did NOT lie in there and you couldn't prove it if he did!

Our glorious pResident answered every question they asked him that wasn't related to National Security, except the one's that Uncle Dick Shiney, as President of Vice, was responsible for! And it's not my fault if they didn't take good notes!

23. The fact that they released this statement is very telling:
"The White House said Tuesday it expects that President Bush rather than Vice President Dick Cheney will handle most of the questions ..."

Has there ever been an administration where this statement would not illicit a "well, duh!" from the public?

26. Don't you get tired of having a secret government?
For Ace Hayes, who is rolling over in his grave and frothing right now. (Anyone from Portland that remembers him?) He was a man ahead of his time.

"Bush likely to take most 9/11 questions"

But WE will never know if that is the truth because it's not public, it's not recorded, and it's not under oath. Once again we are being told what to believe. Our government is a bible story and boy oh boy I'm I an atheist.
