U.S. Forces Kill Six Shi'ite Militiamen Near Najaf
NAJAF, Iraq (Reuters) - U.S. forces backed by helicopter gunships killed at least six Shi'ite militiamen in overnight clashes near the Iraqi holy city of Najaf, residents and a hospital official said on Tuesday.

Residents said helicopters fired rockets at a Mehdi Army militia checkpoint on the outskirts of the town of Kufa, some six miles northeast of Najaf, after fighting between U.S. troops and Mehdi militiamen in the area.

Buildings used by the militiamen near the checkpoint were badly damaged and at least three vehicles were destroyed, witnesses said.

Hospital sources said at least six militiamen and 22 other people were wounded in the clashes and the air strike.

1. Terminator - War of the Machines
Cities reduced to rubble with defenders fighting to the end. Haven't any of Bushie's "experts" read about Stalingrad, Leningrad, the Boer War or the defense of Okinawa? (Dr. Condi sez: 'Never thought they'd use airplanes as a weapon!' Kamikaze ring a bell? Condi's PhD stands for Phucking Dumbass!) We'll have those insurgents eating glass-filled mealies before the end of May! What a horrible, horrible mess!

4. Al-Jazeera says it's mostly civilians
... and they won't show footage because it would be to cruel to be put on air.

5. ITS REALLY GUERNICA
On April 27th, 1937, unprecedented atrocities are perpetrated on behalf of Franco against the civilian population of a little Basque village in northern Spain. Chosen for bombing practice by Hitler's burgeoning war machine, the hamlet is pounded with high-explosive and incendiary bombs for over three hours. Townspeople are cut down as they run from the crumbling buildings. Guernica burns for three days. Sixteen hundred civilians are killed or wounded.

By May 1st, news of the massacre at Guernica reaches Paris, where more than a million protesters flood the streets to voice their outrage in the largest May Day demonstration the city has ever seen. Eyewitness reports fill the front pages of Paris papers. Picasso is stunned by the stark black and white photographs. Appalled and enraged, Picasso rushes through the crowded streets to his studio, where he quickly sketches the first images for the mural he will call Guernica. His search for inspiration is over.
