Bush Campaign Turns Up Heat on Kerry
By REUTERS

Published: April 26, 2004

Filed at 1:33 p.m. ET

WASHINGTON (Reuters) - President Bush's re-election campaign turned up the heat on Democrat rival John Kerry on Monday by accusing him of a troubling record on national security and inconsistent support of U.S. troops.

In an indication the Iraq war was an increasingly important factor in the Nov. 2 election, with U.S. forces caught up in an deadly conflict with insurgents, the Bush team's strategy was to raise questions about Kerry's commitment to the U.S. military and thus the country's defense.

The Bush campaign produced a new television advertisement for 18 battleground states and national cable and Vice President Dick Cheney went on the offensive with a Missouri speech attacking Kerry.

1. Mad Hatter's Tea Party
Okay, this puts us down the rabbit hole and turns any semblance of reason upside down. The chickenhawks attacking the war hero. If this country falls for this crap, then we're well down the road to the Fourth Reich where people believe whatever their feuher tells them. Scary.

6. They are the only ones he could possibly have meant.
Since Junior and his cronies constantly reach new depths of shamelessness in this area as today's Chickenhawk squawking shows.

3. Let 'em
Look here: http://talkingpointsmemo.com for some interesting thoughts on how Kerry should respond, and further down, on the advisability of letting the Bushitheads talk themselves blue in the face and thin in the wallet now. It made great sense.

Attack Junior for cowering behind subordinates and/or his handler Cheney and letting them do his dirty work. Kerry needs to proudly stand up and say "I answered the call of duty and I faced enemy fire. When my country asked me to serve, I did not shirk my duty like Mr. Cheney and say I had 'other committments.' I don't need a lecture from the likes of Mr. Cheney on how to defend this country. I know what it means to defend this country. I served. He did not."

5. This is a VERY significant week for B-C
they need to take the spotlight away from themselves. Cheney's energy hearings - 9-11 interviews - anniversary of "mission accomplished".
