US officials, contractors brush off security concerns in Iraq
AMMAN (AFP) - US officials and lead contractors involved in rebuilding Iraq (news - web sites) painted a rosy picture of the war-battered country despite a surge of violence which some say is delaying the reconstruction drive.

During eight hours of intense "networking", 300 participants from around 17 countries listened to how subcontractors can get a share in the multi-billion dollar deals awarded to major US firms.

The experts included representatives of US lead contractors and officials of the US-led coalition and its Programme Management Office (PMO) which manages the 18.4 billion dollars Washington has allocated to Iraq.

In the views of many, the escalation of violence that followed the gruesome murder of four US civilian contractors at the end of March had been "stressful" but not the end of the road.

2. Ah yes, my employees don't mind losing an arm or leg, or their life,
of course this worthy cause is indeed worth the cause.
