Oakland's 'suburban' Occupy fears an influx
Source: SF Chronicle

Moments before police raided Oakland's Frank Ogawa Plaza early Monday, Marcus Littlejohn, 27, packed a shopping cart with his life's possessions and walked 15 minutes northeast toward the city's other, more sleepy, Occupy spot: Snow Park.

Littlejohn joined the estimated 40 tents on the grass near Lake Merritt, and he was not the only Ogawa plaza refugee to head to Snow. The lake-side park has been described as a gentler Occupy Oakland, settled by those who were put off by the former camp's hostile atmosphere.

"It's like the suburbs out here," Littlejohn said. "But at the same time, this is still Oakland. In a place like this, and especially if the crowds come in, trouble is always around."

City officials said Occupiers could remain at Snow at least until Tuesday, but that if the camp's population suddenly booms, it would be shut down immediately.

2. Seriously?
'City officials said Occupiers could remain at Snow at least until Tuesday, but that if the camp's population suddenly booms, it would be shut down immediately.'

So as long as it appears that it is a few 'fringe' elements it is ok? But if hundreds show up to exercize their constitutional rights it's not?
Talk about 1984.
