Cain vows to "set the record straight"
Source: AP-Excite

By SHANNON McCAFFREY

ATLANTA (AP) - Republican presidential candidate Herman Cain is vowing to "set the record straight" at a news conference one day after a fourth woman - and the first to reveal her identity - accused him of inappropriate sexual behavior a decade ago, the latest in a string of claims that have rocked his presidential campaign.

"There is not an ounce of truth to all these allegations" and the graphic account from Sharon Bialek is "totally fabricated," the Georgia businessman told late-night talk show host Jimmy Kimmel.

Cain planned to address the latest furor Tuesday afternoon in Phoenix as he seeks to stem the fallout of a controversy stretching into its second week.

"I'm going to talk about it," Cain said, adding "we are taking this head on" - a reversal from just days ago when told reporters he was done answering questions about the matter.

6. Indeed. Cain's gone from "I didn't do it" to "I'm not aware that I did it"
to "I'm not gonna talk about whether I did it" to "I'm gonna tell you how I didn't do it."

All that's left is IF I DID IT*

2. So I guess that "meeting it head on" means that the other victims of his harassment
will be getting released from their confidentiality agreements. Anything less would be dodging.

4. Never sexually harrassed anyone?
Okay, I get that whole "If you repeat a lie long enough people will believe it", but two of the women received settlement payments because of Sexual harrassment. That not only means that it was bad enough to get to the point of even filing charges, which is not an easy thing to do against the head of your organization, but people at the company had to make an independent judgement on it to come to a dollar amount. Twice!

If you are in an industry and call out the top guy, the one who can easily stop your career, it has to take a lot. I don't care what industry it is (food, technology, whatever) you really have to get to a certain point to do that. And if 2 women (now 5 on the record) did that, how many others were harrassed that didn't say anything.

This guy has a record for saying the most idiotic things, then sticking by them, so I can't wait to see what he says here.

7. Or how many others were harrassed that didn't get a cash payment?
I suspect the two that got compensation were the straws that broke the camel's back, not the first reports that TPTB had about Cain's harrassing ways.

5. I suspect one way to go would be to attack these women and sully their
reputations.
In which case I hope they can sue his pants off (pun intended) for slander etc.

14. I wouldn't be surpirsed if Ms. Bialek isn't a "yellow dog" Democrat by the end of the day.
I assume that is what you meant by "sully their reputations."

13. So is he going to have a real news conference or is he going to make a statement, take a few planted
questions, and then say that he is done answering questions about this and moving on? Because if he tries the latter approach it absolutely will not work. Of course if he tries the former approach and suddenly develops a faulty memory about key details that will be a problem also. For example, was he ever alone in a car with this woman or is he saying she made that up?

17. Where there is smoke there usually is fire.....
One woman or maybe even two might have gone after him for a settlement or have taken retribution against him because of a personality clash. But with four women and an article about a woman from Egypt that commented on his interest in having dinner with her, this is a pattern of behavior. I think he is guilty of, at a minimum, inappropriate behavior.

20. Cain Makes Light of Allegations - BAD idea
If you were accused of sexual harassment, would going on Jimmy Kimmel be the way to improve the situation? Instead of making light of the serious situation, Cain ended up making a fool of himself. You don't go on Jimmy Kimmel to discuss such serious matters! Ridiculous.

My comment (please click like on that comment and dislike on the video, if you have youtube account): "Go look up how Cain's campaign mgr Mark Block was banned from Wisconsin elections for 3 years. Or how Cain once blamed Rick Perry for planting this story. Take off your tinfoil hat, bob."

And Cain, stop lying and stop flip flopping like Romney in your story.
