Lawyer: Cain accuser wants to tell her side of story
Source: Washington Post

One of the women who accused GOP presidential candidate Herman Cain of sexual harassment wants to tell her side of the story but is barred by a confidentiality agreement, her attorney in Washington said Tuesday.

Lawyer Joel P. Bennett called on the National Restaurant Association, where the woman and Cain worked in the late 1990s, to release the woman from her written promise not to talk about the allegations or disparage the trade group.

“It is just frustrating that Herman Cain is going around bad-mouthing the two complainants, and my client is blocked by a confidentiality agreement,” Bennett said. “The National Restaurant Association ought to release them and allow them to respond. ”

Okay, now it's starting to get interesting. By continuing to talk about this, Cain may have left an opening for the gag order to be lifted from the women who accused him -- because he is saying they are lying, while they are at the moment barred from any response. Here's hoping!

7. This raises an interesting question...
I've read the agreement involved a payment in five figures. If the woman could sell her story for...say, seven figures, then she could tell her story and "return" the five-figure settlement!

She'd still come out way ahead!

9. It could be more than that

If you and I agree to settle a dispute, we can agree to $10k, but have a liquidated damage clause for breach much more than that.

3. A confidentiality agreement should go both ways. She has a right to defend herself after
it was made public.

13. Not if she made it public

The problem here is that this may have started with a breach of confidentiality by either or both of the women concerned.

4. Cain should man up and release her from
the confidentiality agreement. Even freepers would agree, no?

5. And it may not even be the "one" woman Cain said he is aware of. It
could be the woman who Cain says "he doesn't know anything about". His lies are growing.

8. A liar with a good lawyer
Cain doesn't need any truth; he's got a confidentiality agreement drawn up by the best lawyer money can buy. Cain is hiding his ugly past behind civil law.
