Police: Boston 6-alarm fire started after blast
Source: AP

BOSTON (AP) — About a dozen people have been hurt in an apartment building fire in Boston's Roxbury neighborhood that police say may have been started by a resident.

The six-alarm blaze broke out early Monday in the large building on Wardman Street.

Police officials told reporters a man who showed up at Boston Medical Center with burns told officials there that he had tried to blow up his own home.

Residents who escaped the blaze said they heard an explosion in the building at about 1 a.m.

1. Updated reports say:
1)About a half dozen people were slightly injured, none seriously, all escaped safely and are being assisted by Red Cross.

2) It is now uncertain if the suspect in question actually lived in the building. This explosion was likely the result of natural gas, (he may have disconnected a gas line to start the blaze).

3)So far, it appears this is an act of a single individual, not any kind of major terrorist plot.
