Slovakia votes down eurozone bailout expansion plans

Slovakia's parliament has voted against measures to bolster the powers of the eurozone bailout fund, seen as vital in combating the bloc's debt crisis.

The governing coalition split over the deal and its future is now in doubt.

Slovakia is the last of the eurozone's 17 member states to vote on expanding the European Financial Stability Fund.

However, the BBC's Rob Cameron in Bratislava says a second vote could be held within days and is likely to succeed.

100% agreement of all 17 member states is required to expand the fund.

3. The vote of no confidence will merely just usher in a pro-EFSF gov't
and then the banks will get their bailouts.
