Florida killer of mom, 2 kids to be executed on Nov. 15
Source: Associated Press

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. -- A man convicted of killing an Ohio mother and her two teenage daughters in the Tampa Bay area as they traveled home from a Disney World vacation in June 1989 is set to receive a lethal injection on Nov. 15.

Gov. Rick Scott signed the death warrant on Monday for Oba Chandler.

Chandler was convicted in 1994 of murdering 36-year-old Joan Rogers and her daughters, Christe and Michelle after the Wilshire, Ohio, woman asked him for directions to a Tampa motel. Authorities say he tied weights to their necks before tossing them in Tampa Bay, but the remains later floated to the surface.

It's the second death warrant Scott has signed since taking office. Last month, Manuel Valle was executed for fatally shooting a Coral Gables police officer in 1979.

6. And I;
And there will always be worse and worse cases that will come about. But the state has no right to take a life.

7. I'd rather see him rot in jail
I am against the death penalty in all cases. Death seems like the easy away out.

9. I agree
I will never support the death penalty. And to the people who say it saves money, well that is just sick and wrong. You know what saves money? Helping people that need help, whether that be for mental healthcare, poverty, etc. That is WAY cheaper than putting people in jail. Prevention is the answer. And when people do wrong to this degree, then they should have to live with it the rest of their natural, God given lives, in jail. It should NEVER be up to someone else to decide who lives and who dies. THAT is murder.

12. yeah... I can't really bring myself to care about this one
Life in prison would have seemed fair to me too, but if there's no doubt about this guy's guilt, and if his death after 22 years brings any peace to the man who lost his family, it seems the least that this guy could sacrifice to atone for what he did. I truly admire people who are opposed to the death penalty on principle, but in cases where there's no doubt (a very important caveat), I just can't make myself care. I'm not proud of that attitude, and I'm not cheering his death either... but I just can't get worked up about the death penalty for sadistic murderers.

11. TRUE?
If this is true than why did he do it? That is absolutely horrible.

13. A Google search reveals all 3 women were sexually assaulted
and he murdered them to cover up those crimes. He already had a record of other sexual assaults.

I'm against the DP if there is any doubt at all. In this case, HE should have had a concrete block tied around his neck and then been tossed alive into the water.

God, those poor women. I can hardly bear to think of it.

The punishment should fit the crime.

16. I remember this case
I worked for the agency that had to recover the bodies . I'm normally against the death penalty not for this man. It took years to find this guy and that was because they put up something he's written on a billboard and a former neighbor called a tip in. Hell, this guy lived about 5 mins from me when I lived in Tampa.

The reason why they were traveling to Disney/Busch Gardens was because they older girl was raped and Mom wanted to give her some happy memories instead. Turned into a horror show. Bye Asshole..will toast a drink that day.
