Obama bashes GOP booing of gay soldier

President Obama assailed the Republican presidential candidates last night for not speaking out against the booing of a gay soldier during one of their recent presidential debates.

"We don't believe in a small America," Obama told the annual dinner of the Human Rights Campaign. "We don't believe in the kind of smallness that says it's okay for a stage full of political leaders -- one of whom could end up being the President of the United States -- being silent when an American soldier is booed."

In his first public comments on the incident, Obama taunted his GOP rivals: "You want to be Commander-in-Chief? You can start by standing up for the men and women who wear the uniform of the United States, even when it's not politically convenient."

The comments came about his Republican rivals came as Obama listed a number of accomplishments in the area of gay rights, including repeal of the military's "Don't Ask, Don't Tell" policy against gays.

16. Indeed, I've noted that as well.
It seems that members of the Republican party enthusiastically support military actions, as long as they and theirs are not required to fight. Most dishonourable, in my humble view.

5. Notice the biased headline that is negatively aimed at Obama....
as if it is a terrible thing that he pointed out that the CinC's job is to support all of the troops. You have to say that the corporate media is consistent. They will always support the GOP. If they do a story about the President or any Dem, they will make the Dem look like they are in the wrong somehow.

6. Notice the biased headline
Especially with the connotations the word "bashing" carries with it.

Now WHO was doing the "bashing".... and who was pointing it out?

14. Because it implies an unprovoked attack, with intentions to just take down.
Clearly what he said was provoked by that audience and the politician's reactions. And there is no reasons to assume destructive motives.

The word "bashing" is often used on both sides in self-serving ways. With an implied attempt to pin the conflict initiation.
