Mich. Dem. switches to GOP House race
Source: Associated Press

LANSING, Mich. (AP) — A former Democratic state lawmaker is switching to the Republican Party and will launch a campaign Wednesday for U.S. Rep. Dale Kildee's seat, The Associated Press has learned.

Ex-Rep. Jim Slezak of Genesee County's Davison Township says in a release that he's making the switch to the GOP and kicking off his campaign Wednesday for the 5th District seat that Kildee, a Democrat, has held for more than three decades.

The AP was given an advance copy of the release and an early look at Slezak's announcement video.

Kildee, who has represented his working-class hometown of Flint and the surrounding area in Congress for 34 years, announced in July that he would retire when his current term expires next year, confident his seat will remain in Democratic hands.

6. I can understand how a Rethug might see the light and turn Dem.
I will never, never understand how a Dem could ever become a Rethug, though.

Dood riddance to a former DINO is all I can say.

10. Opportunists.
We had an asshole like that in Florida. He ran for County Clerk as a Dem in 2004 and had a lot of party support. When he lost, he immediately switched to repuke. He even held a press conference to announce how nasty the Dems were, and the party had left him. The office became open again in 2008 and he was going to run as a repuke, but they had another candidate in mind.

So, this asshole switches back to Dem, and the fools in the county party welcomed him back, and supported him again! He lost again. And the idiot, incompetent DEC Chair who welcomed him back, got promoted to State Vice-Chair.
