Republican Louie Gohmert Blasts American Jobs Act For Banning Unemployment Discrimination
Source: HuffPost Politics

WASHINGTON -- Rep. Louie Gohmert (R-Texas) is no fan of a proposal for the federal government to forbid employers from discriminating against the jobless based on their employment status.

"We're adding in this bill a new protected class called 'unemployed,'" Gohmert said on the floor of the House Tuesday. "I think this will help trial lawyers who are not having enough work. We heard from our friends across the aisle, 14 million people out of work -- that's 14 million new clients."

The American Jobs Act, submitted by President Obama to Congress this week, has a section that would prohibit employers from not hiring someone just because they are jobless.

According to the National Employment Law Project, Gohmert is incorrect: The proposal would not make employment status a protected class like race or sex. It simply bans hiring discrimination against the jobless, and is modeled off of legislation drafted by Democrats in Congress earlier this year.

You know what this whole damn issue reminds me of, guys? Remember going into a party or a bar alone and getting zero attention from women? Remember going to the same place a week later accompanied by a woman? Of course you do! HA!

2. Republicans love them some lawyer bashing, precisely because lawyers
will fight for whatever rights the Constitution and US or international laws give people.

I find it very sad when I see DUers join in.

3. IMPORTANT ---- Please NOTE
Today Gohmert (R-TX) introduced a REPUBLICAN bill titled: The American Jobs Act of 2011
which is TWO PAGES

Gohmert stole the title of the 'proposal' President Obama unveiled last week.
Obama's PROPOSAL (155 pages) was NOT introduced in the House, so Gohmert was able to steal the 'name'.

So, as of now the bill in the House titled 'The American Jobs Act of 2011' MUST BE DEFEATED.

7. Gohmert is just scared of the unemployed babies that are being born in this country.
Unemployed people in our country have their babies, and then those babies rise up one day to become unemployed.
This is how the unemployed sustain their numbers.

It's a sneaky conspiracy that's hardly ever mentioned by the lamestream media because it takes almost 20 years to have an affect on our economy, but that's the devilish part of their plan!
Thank gawd above for Gohmert's ability to see through their sinful plan!

I think he should be careful dissing attorneys, though.
Seems to me that a disproportionment number of Congressmen used to be attorneys.

8. They just hate being deprived of a "target"
I had a landlord once, in a neighborhood surrounded by colleges and universities. He flat-out said to me: "Students! They're the only group you're ALLOWED to discriminate against anymore!"

Geeze, pal, so sorry to cramp your style.

11. No. He's just a steaming pile of shit.
I wish that son of a bitch would have to spend 90 days in my shoes. Time to put this vermin out of work, and let him see how it is.

10. Gohmert's constituents
must have high unemployment. No employer with job openings would hire someone who voted for the hayseed Congressman.

13. Gohmert really does seem to be the worst of the worst at this point.

For me, Gohmert epitomizes the insanity and club-footed heartlessness of today's "conservatives". The two main things that distinguish humans from the animals are intellect and empathy. Gohmert repeatedly proves that he has neither.

If I saw him at the zoo, I wouldn't feed him.

Yeah, asshole, let's discriminate against everyone possible -- just leave your right-wing, fascist inner group alone, right? What a waste of oxygen.
