CNN(CNN) -- A joint memoir by Rep. Gabrielle Giffords and her husband, Mark Kelly, is set to hit the shelves November 15.
Published by Scribner, "Gabby: A Story of Courage and Hope" chronicles the relationship between the congresswoman and the astronaut. It's the story of her rise to become a Democratic U.S. representative from Arizona, his stellar career from combat pilot to commander of the Space Shuttle Endeavor's final flight and the tragedy that befell their lives when she was shot in the head last January at a Tucson, Arizona, shopping center.
Giffords was gravely wounded that day but made what doctors called a miraculous recovery to the point where, in early August, she received a standing ovation when she returned to the House floor for a critical vote on the debt ceiling.
The memoir takes readers through a journey marked by heavenly highs and Hades lows.
