Kenosha-based National Guard unit placed on alert

KENOSHA, Wis. - The 1st Battalion of the Wisconsin National Guard's 126th Artillery Regiment, which is based in Kenosha, has been placed on alert for possible mobilization, a guard spokesman says.

Lt. Col. Tim Donovan said Monday it was not certain whether soldiers in the 500-member battalion will be mobilized, nor was it known where they might be deployed.

In addition to its Kenosha headquarters, the battalion has subsidiary units based in Oak Creek, Racine, Burlington and Whitewater.
