Senate Democrats boost disaster aid
Source: Associated Press

WASHINGTON (AP) — Senate Democrats are unveiling legislation that provides $6 billion in new disaster aid to help victims of Hurricane Irene and those from disasters dating to Hurricane Katrina.

The legislation could spark a battle with tea party-backed House Republicans, who say Congress should cut federal spending elsewhere to pay for disaster aid.

Democrats counter that the recent budget pact signed into law last month by President Barack Obama allows for federal disaster aid to be provided as emergency spending outside of other budget limits. The White House says $6.7 billion is needed to take care of disaster needs next year.

they'll get a back bone after seeing how the country feels. If they are listening.

4. A nice surprise-a reasonable provision.
And it can't be filibustered by the teabaggers in congress who would have us debate for twenty-two years of what constitutes an emergency before they can decide. Let them scream their opposition to the press. I'd like to see who rallies to the cause of denying help to those who are victims of disaster.

5. 6 Billion, (probably a reasonable amount) but out of how many trillion we spend
on everything in the budget? When we spend over 600 billion, (a hundred times more) on the military?

6 billion, for people who have lost their homes, businesses, roads and bridges?

6 billion for people like you and I, who, there but for the good fortune of not living where others did, would be the victims.

America helping fellow Americans, only under Obama and the Tea Party has this become an issue that needed such attention.

The richest nation on the planet, and we make this kind of mutual aid, (which should be unquestioned, well audited to avoid fraud, true, but unquestioned) we should take care of our own people. And yet we have this headache from the Tea Party over helping each other out of a bad weather-caused situation?

UNBELIEVABLE!
