Obama Challenges Congress in Labor Day Speech
Source: Associated Press

DETROIT (AP) — President Barack Obama said Monday that congressional Republicans must put their country ahead of their party and vote to create new jobs as he used a boisterous Labor Day rally to aim a partisan barb at the GOP.

In a preview of the jobs speech he will deliver on Thursday to Congress, Obama said there are numerous roads and bridges that need rebuilding in the U.S., and over 1 million unemployed construction workers who are available to build them.

Citing massive federal budget deficits, Republicans have expressed opposition to spending vasat new sums on jobs programs. But Obama said that with widespread suffering, "the time for Washington games is over" and lawmakers must move quickly to create jobs.

"But we're not going wait for them," he said at an annual event sponsored by the Metropolitan Detroit AFL-CIO. "We're going to see if we've got some straight shooters in Congress. We're going to see if congressional Republicans will put country before party."

11. When we levy and collect or put liens out to collect compulsory tax revenue due to the American
people from all Americans without favor or without tax law
loopholes, we do not need the rich to decide if they will or
will not invest in America and its people. Obviously, we now
see that the "Market" does NOT work freely and
without a prejudiced temperment. The Market is drowning our
government in the bathtub, and the safety nets that government
provides for us are being cut rather than funded and staffed.

We are turds if those of us with brains do not hold all
congress critters accountable for debt financing rather than
revenue collecting to pay our bills and keep us prosperous.
This is assinine. There is a simple solution and why no one
is mentioning it makes me think they are all in the same bed:
mutual shareholders of the Federal Reserve Bank collecting 6%
annual dividends on 44% of our deficit owned by same for all
of this debt financing.

This is not only a conflict of interest, this is treason and
fraud on the American public who have trusted our leaders to
manage our coffers appropriately and they have not. This is
enough to call home our troops and line these guys up and have
them shot.

Let me know the date. I will tape it for all to see so that
this treason is no longer imposed on our people again. This
is what it is going to take. Government issued massacre of
the rich and noble who have committed treason against the
public. Round them up and hold hearings for treasonous acts
that have plummeted the goodwill and prosperity of the people.

The Buffets and the Levys and anyone else who is rich that
lines up to pay their taxes asap may be forgiven, but they
must pay in arrears with interest.

No more fucking around with our laws and our money. So do we
have any more non-corrupted folks who have leadership power?
If not the elders, then bring on the youth. This has GOT TO
STOP.

17. I agree. Pay no attention to the deranged Nattering Nabobs of RepubliCrap
...and life will have truth, honor, and integrity -- as Americans are well aware.

We have to do something about the SuckerPuppet (R) trolls who spew paid negativity about the President of these United States, as you suggest. They are scummy and intent on dragging America down in the mud, I know, but...in the end Honor shall prevail over the Republicon SuckerPuppets.

9. Kick Butt, Please!
I hope that Obama continues to kick butt in his speech to
Congress. Don't worry about the conservatives. Nothing Obama
could ever do will win them, but most people are not
ideological. However, they do admire somebody who stands up
for his beliefs. Obama has to prove he is worthy of the
respect he gained when he ran and won the presidency. Channel
Truman and give 'em hell!

13. He talks tough, then wimps out on all of us.
Backing off the air pollution reg's comes to mind. Continues the Duffus tax cuts to richest one-percent is another. Yeah, we all hope. But in the end we get the big "cave-in" to repugs and tea-freaks. Does anyone get the feeling he's listening to his advisors, and not listening to us?

15. Roads and bridges need repairing ?
 That can't be true...when did they fall into disrepair? Last night while I was sleeping ?
Our electrical grid is o.k. isn't it ? Next thing we know, there will be poor and unemployed people.
And our health care system will be wrecked and big money will take over politics...What a nightmare that would be...Thanks for waking up Mr. Obama, now DO something..

I am happy that the President is making it clear that the Republicans are the primary obstacle to Obama's very reasonable approach to creating jobs.

22. Obama is never going to stand up for the working people....
Why keep on with this myth.. this "wish"... tomorrow Obama will do the right thing....

He is not going to do the right thing.....ever.... so let's move on.

We are in a terrible depression.. the clock is ticking before this thing goes global... we are talking about food shortages.. electric outages... bank closings....

We need everyone to pull together and figure out how we can get out of this horrible mess..
