5. Quake In Islands Off Alaska Triggers Tsunami Warning
Source: RTT News

The NOAA West Coast & Alaska Tsunami Warning Center issued a tsunami warning after a strong sub-sea earthquake measuring 7.1 on Richter scale struck near the Fox Islands, a group of islands in Alaska's eastern Aleutian Islands, in the early hours of Friday.

The tsunami warning is in effect for coastal areas of California, Oregon, Washington, British Columbia and Alaska from the California-Mexico border to Unimak Pass, Alaska.

The Tsunami Warning Center has advised all coastal residents in the warning area who are near the beach or in low-lying regions to move immediately inland to higher ground and away from all harbors and inlets including those sheltered directly from the sea.

The United States Geological Survey said the shallow quake struck at a depth of 35.5 km, and 45 km South West of Amukta Island, Alaska, at 01:55 AM local time.
