Muammar Gaddafi urges followers to turn Libya 'into a hell'
Source: The Guardian

A defiant Muammar Gaddafi has issued his latest apocalyptic statement, urging his surrounded followers to "keep fighting" and promising to turn Libya "into a hell".

In an audio statement aired this afternoon by Syria's Arrai TV station, Gaddafi denounced the rebels as "traitors", and said tribes loyal to him would never surrender to "collaborators". "We won't surrender again; we are not women; we will keep fighting," he declared.

"They cannot be brought to their knees. You cannot even pass through their soil, can you imagine ruling them? The Libyan people are not a herd of sheep, they cannot be defeated," he said, referring to still-loyal tribes in the towns of Sirte and Bani Walid.

He continued: "My voice represents danger to them . Now they are working to jam our radio stations. They fear our voices. This proves the occupiers are weak."

6. He is reminding me of the old Monty Python bit...
cartoon figures, one ridiculing the other, calling him a chicken as the other slices off his arms, then legs, then head. Finally the head is bobbing up and down on the ground yelling "c'mon, chicken, you think yer tough?"

12. I remember it from the tv show.
Sort of like the Benny Hill thing where they cobbled a bunch of specials together and turned them into a series.

9. Does Gaddafi mean this was just for show?
On a thread by Catherina.

1. They are all virgins and take a vow of chastity when becoming official bodyguards.

2. Gaddafi believes it is empowering for women to be his bodyguards. He says, “Women should be trained for combat, so that they do not become easy prey for their enemies.”

3. They are all trained killers and hand-picked by Gaddafi himself.

Thanks for the thread, alp.

10. A couple of comments about Picture one and three
Edited on Thu Sep-01-11 04:42 PM by happyslug
The first picture, the one with the women wearing red berets, the second woman is a blond, but also has Barber features. Blond occur among Barbers and related groups in North Africa and this is believed to go back to huge influx of blonds about 4-5000 years ago (With additional influx, through minor, with the Vandals taking Carthage in 450 AD), thus all of them look like women from North Africa.

The Third Picture is different, the two women in Brown uniforms, and the one woman in a Black uniform look like women from North Africa, but the woman between them and Gaddafi who is wearing a blue camo uniform with a tie just looks to Northern European for me. Given that her boots are "Bloused" while the other women are wearing un-bloused shoes and/or boots and she is wearing a camo uniform (Through with a white shirt and tie), I suspect that woman was among Gaddafi's group when Gaddafi was visiting her country. i.e. she is NOT one of Gaddafi female guards (Side note, her hands are on her belt, is that a pistol she is covering up? None of the other women has any form of weapon, but if the women in the blue camo had a weapon that would be more evidence that she is a guard from whatever host country Gaddafi was visiting at the time the picture was taking. One more note the woman is wearing a blue camo patrol cap, while the other women are all wearing dress officers cap (the woman in black), dress Red Berets (The two women in the middle) or a red, what my father called an "Overseas cap" and what I was told was an "Envelope Hat", another hat to be worn with a dress uniform.

I can not see the face of the fourth Woman in the picture, her skin seems to be a light as the women wearing blue camo, but I can NOT see enough facial feature to make any comment, except she appears to be wearing a desert camo uniform, but no pistol belt. I can NOT make out her shoes/boots, is that a product of shade or is she wearing bloused boots? I suspect the later, but it may be a trick of the camera. IT looks like her beret matches the woman in front of her, so I suspect she is one of Gaddafi body guards, but the beret also looks different, more rounder and less sharp, but again may be a product of the Camera angle then reality.

Just a comment on the women in the pictures, and why I believe the women wearing blue camo is NOT one of Gaddafi's female body guard (But was a body guard on that date, but for some other country), that woman wearing the blue camo uniform is just so out of place (unlike the blond in the first picture, her facial feature and the facial features of the woman next to her shows what you would expect from someone out of North Africa, even if she is a blond).

The Woman wearing Blue Camo is differently wearing a pistol belt, I can see from another picture of her:

The article the picture was attached to does NOT seem to have anything to do with the article EXCEPT it shows Gaddafi with women in uniform.

Now, the blue camo may have been issued to this woman by Gaddafi after she was assigned to be with him when he visited her country. I have found another picture of Gaddafi's female body guards, one of which with clear African features but in a Blue Camo Uniform.

11. Found the video where the Woman in Blue Camo was taken, it was on a visit to Kiev.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jD3Qolg-dbw

And that visit was in November 2008:
http://www.aolnews.com/2011/03/23/moammar-40-lipsticked-virgins-gadhafis-best-bet-for-survival/

The video points her out, along with the other women, but I do NOT know Ukrainian so I do not know what the narrator is saying (And given that the narrator may NOT know who she is, he may just be saying she is a body guard, when she is not).

In February 2011, 192 Ukrainians (Including Gaddafi's personal nurse) were evacuated from Libya. Gaddaf's personal nurse was a 38 year old blond, so she is NOT the woman in blue camo, but could she be another of Gaddafi's Ukrainian nurses? That would fit the why she is in blue camo AND with Gaddafi AND her Slavic looks.

13. Breaking; Gaddafi hires new spokesman from Tea Party administration.
War correspondent Sleazy Wheezy reports that when asked, Gaddafi said: "Well, I figured they had done America so much harm, they'd be able to destroy Libya, too!"
