The United Nations has agreed to unfreeze £1.86bn Libyan dinar - worth about £950m - being held in UK banks.

Foreign Secretary William Hague said this represented another "major step forward" in getting necessary assistance to the Libyan people.

He added the funds, which will be released to the Central Bank of Libya, would help to address urgent humanitarian needs.

The funds were frozen in February when the uprising in Libya first started.

I do of course assume those funds will also be used to pay back the cost of the exercise @ £3 million / day.

The cost of Britain's war on Libya - £3 million a day.

While the government claims there is no money to fund public services, it is prepared to spend millions of pounds on bombing Libya at a moment’s notice. These are some of the costs of going to war:

£900,000 for each Tomahawk cruise missile
£40,000 per hour, per jet in the air
£1,000,000 a week on each submarine
£750,000 on each Storm Shadow cruise missile
£2 million a day on Navy ships in the Mediterranean

Still going on so I guess that will be c. £600 million out of the £950 million. Good days work that. Thank you UN.
