Joplin man pleads guilty to not paying IRS $5 million
Source: News-Leader

A former Joplin business owner pleaded guilty in federal court on Wednesday to failing to pay employee payroll taxes to the government.

Robert W. Landis, 44, failed to collect, or truthfully account for, or pay to the IRS federal employment taxes and federal income tax on employee wages, according to a news release from the U.S. Attorney for the Western District of Missouri.

Landis was the owner of Priority Personnel of Missouri and Priority Personnel of Kansas, temporary employment agencies, according to the release.

5. Ooooh! He needs to call JK Harris ASAP!
Probably went to some $500 weekend "seminar" at a Holiday Inn where some slick told him he didn't have to pay taxes because he's a "Sovereign Citizen".

7. Oh, yes, "Voluntary".
I had a co-worker tell me once that all I had to do was go to the Bookkeeper and fill out a new W-4 and across the bottom write "I do not chose to participate" and sign it.

And I guess that's all there was to it, until some day 5 years down the road when you get the letter informing you of your apparent liability, plus interest and penalties...
