Prosecutors Recommend Sexual Assault Charges Against Strauss-Kahn Be Dropped
Source: NY1

The hotel maid accusing former International Monetary Fund Chief Dominique Strauss-Kahn of sexually assaulting her briefly met with prosecutors today, and her attorney expressed disappointment that the office of Manhattan District Attorney Cyrus Vance Jr. decided to drop the case.

The accuser, Nafissatou Diallo, and her attorney Kenneth Thompson met with the district attorney's office for only a few minutes shortly after 3 p.m., and then Thompson gave the press a brief statement.

Prosecutors could ask a judge to dismiss the case during Strauss-Kahn's next scheduled court appearance at 11:30 a.m. tomorrow.

Thompson had previously suspected that the case was not moving forward because of reported doubts among prosecutors about her credibility and a lack of evidence proving she was forced into a sexual encounter.

2. DU is going to be intolerable for at least a month
And the DSK hanging party was already more shrill than the Duke hanging party was after their case fell apart.

3. Well, if that happens, all we have to do is present the facts.

There is no way this case should ever have even begun, let alone cost this man what it has cost and so many millions of people who were, most likely, adversely affected by what happened.

He should sue that woman. She apparently has lots of money in her various accounts in different states.

Her lawyer has been cited for unethical practices in the past so it's not a surprise he is disappointed that he won't be getting a big payoff and is trying to keep it going. He may end up getting her arrested, as she probably should be.

The remaining questions regarding the huge implications of his losing his role as IMF chief just when he was headed to Europe to discuss the Greek situation with Merkel, and of course his chances of running against Sarkozy, these are the bigger story here. Apparently he did not agree with the policies of putting all the burdens of their Austerity programs on the people. He wanted the banks to 'share the sacrifice' from what I have read.

The friendship of the NYPD Police Chief with Sarkozy eg, and the early leaking of an arrest, hours before it even happened, that too should be looked into. Kelly and Browne, his media Rep who distorted the story from the beginning, should be investigated for their role in this.

Cyrus Vance is doing the right thing and his career should not be affected, assuming he did not participate in sham charges in the beginning and only realized later that the woman is a con artist. Otoh, that too should be investigated as we now know that Vance did know for over one month before finally notifying DSK's legal team, that the woman was a liar.

6. This may backfire on Sarkozy
Whatever the truth of it all, many French voters are bound to suspect dirty tricks were at work in the U.S..
