Protesters say (Sen)Toomey(R-PA) meets with fat cats but not jobless
Source: Pittsburgh Post-Gazette

HARRISBURG -- Republican U.S. Sen. Pat Toomey's stock has been rising rapidly in Washington, as the freshman was named last week to the crucial 12-member "super committee" that will try to resolve the nation's growing debt crisis.

But his stock hit rock bottom today with Shawn Wygant of Forest Hills, who was recently laid off from Pittsburgh-based Sodexo Co., plus about 20 other members of liberal and union groups who gathered in a steady rain outside his office here.

"We want Pat Toomey to meet with the people who voted him in, but the only ones he meets with are big business owners," Mr. Wygant said. "I lost my job and my health insurance but Pat Toomey doesn't worry about that. We want to have a town hall meeting with him by early September so we can get more jobs."

Another laid-off worker, Dan Haney of Philadelphia, said he's been traveling to Toomey offices in Eastern Pennsylvania, and "He said he'd meet with us who lost our jobs but he won't give us a time and a place. He campaigned on bringing jobs to people but we haven't seen it yet. Rich people pay little or no taxes and it's sickening."

1. Why did the idiots in this state vote for this teabagger in the first place?
:banghead:

Too late for the buyers remorse. He'll help bring the country to ruins.

3. My theory....
I think he was swept in on Corbett's coat-tails. With Onorato at the top of the ticket, voters just did not split their ballot and vote for Sestak.

Now we are stuck with this teabagger for 5 more years at least. I would have rather had Specter, if he had only not switched parties.

Hindsight is 20/20, as they say. :eyes:

4. Specter was screwed anyways

I think his time was finished. There wasn't a way in hell he would have survived the primary against Toomey. And I can't blame Democrats for not trusting him. Sestak was a good candidate. Unfortunately PA seems to go through fits of insanity and votes for freaks like Santorum and Toomey every few years. Yet, the last time it went red in a presidential election was Bush Sr. in '88. It's a weird state.

5. No, Sestak was a weak candidate.
Arlen was the only one of them who even had a chance against Toomey.

7. Maybe, maybe not
I don't recall the polling at the time. 2010 was a "wave" election with a strong anti-incumbent sentiment and Dems were the party in power. Arlen was in the Senate for what? 30+ years? Also, considering the motivation and turnout was hiring among conservatives, I think Arlen would have had a very tough time.
