Iran asks U.K. not to use force against rioters
Source: AFP Via The Daily Star (Lebanon)

TEHRAN: Iran urged Britain Tuesday to show “restraint” in dealing with rioters, the state television website reported.

Foreign Ministry spokesman Ramin Mehmanparast asked “the British government to prevent the use of violence by the police, and to engage in dialogue with the protesters and examine their demands in order to restore calm,” the website said.

=snip=

In 2009, Britain and other Western countries condemned Tehran for violently crushing protests that followed the controversial re-election of President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad.

Iran denounced the Western condemnations as meddling in its internal affairs.

9. I was sad at first,
but it kept pegging out over the last 2 years, so I knew it was likely on its last legs as it surely couldn't be reality causing that reaction so often.

To be on the safe side, I am going to order a case tomorrow - you know, to get through Nov 2012. I fear I may get another defective one, so best to have several on hand just in case.

43. sure, maybe not in England. but get back to us when you guys have apologized ....
.... collectively, for the past & ongoing 400 years of massacre, pillage, destruction & murder in your former colonies & dominions - like Ireland, for example.

when you return the crown jewels in your royal regalia, and the art treasures in the British museum, to the countries they were looted from - like India, for example.

and when you pay reparations to Iraq for over a hundred years of war crimes - from the 1800's, through Churchill gassing the Kurds when he was Secretary of War, to Tony Blair sending your troops trotting along like good little fascists in the scumbag Bush's wake, to kill & torture Iraqis.

Face it - your government is no better than the Ahmedjinjihadists of the World.

and the Iranians are just pulling the same bait & switch the Chinese pull on the USA - when all that empty rhetoric on human rights comes floating down the sewer of foreign policy experts spouting bullshit.

17. Libya joining in too
1055: BBC Monitoring

Libyan foreign ministry spokesman Khalid Ka'im has called on world governments to take action over the unrest in the UK. David Cameron has lost legitimacy and "must go", Libya's official news agency Jana reports. Libya "demands that the international community not stand with arms folded in the face of this gross aggression against the rights of the British people, who are demanding its right to rule its country", the report said.

24. We said that to them because they were brutally cracking down on peaceful political protesters
The Iranians were indiscriminatly bludgeoning and killing peaceful protesters.

The big differences here are:

1) They are not protesters.

2) They are not peaceful.

3) They are not political.

4) There is no indiscriminate bludgeoning of rioters.

5) The only people who have been killed are citizens trying to protect their local community from the rioters.

Epic false equivalence fail.

40. Here's a serious question about equivalence.
If the UK rioters got organized and the whole thing morphed into an overtly political uprising, would we get behind it as we did for the Libyans and Egyptians and Tunisians? If not, why not?
