TIFFIN, Iowa (AP) — GOP presidential hopeful Newt Gingrich is criticizing President Barack Obama's plan to take a three-day bus tour through the Midwest to discuss the economy.

The former House speaker told a Republican Party dinner in Iowa on Friday that Obama should act like a president and focus on governing rather than going on a campaign-style tour. He said Obama could call Congress into special session to pass better economic policies.

Gingrich called the tour "an insult to the intelligence of every American" that will not create a single job.
