Biggest series of cyber-attacks in history uncovered
Source: The Guardian

Security experts have discovered the biggest series of cyber attacks to date, involving the infiltration of the networks of 72 organisations including the United Nations, governments and companies around the world.

The security company McAfee, which uncovered the intrusions, said it believed there was one "state actor" behind the attacks but declined to name it. One security expert who has been briefed on the hacking said the evidence pointed to China.

The long list of victims in the five-year campaign includes the governments of the US, Taiwan, India, South Korea, Vietnam and Canada; the Association of South-east Asian Nations ; the International Olympic Committee (IOC); the World Anti-Doping Agency; and an array of companies from defence contractors to high-tech enterprises.

In the case of the UN the hackers broke into the computer system of the secretariat in Geneva in 2008, hid there unnoticed for nearly two years and quietly combed through reams of secret data, according to McAfee.

1. China is constantly hacking us. 99% of my pings are from China. I imagine it's
like that all over the US.

3. I have noticed that for years...

... I used to track who was pinging me, and it 90% of the time traced to China, so I can say it has been that way since at least 10 years, as that is when I started tracing them, I got bored with it. Nearly the same results everytime. China.

5. How do you track who is pinging you?
If the answer to that question is super complicated or technical, probably no need to bother answering. I am just a guy with a mouse...who the Hell would wanna ping me anyhow?

6. You have to configure your firewall to log where they come from.
It's not very complicated, but also not something an average user could do on their own.

8. Most Americans are unaware or apathetic that China is literally trying to take over the world
Edited on Wed Aug-03-11 10:34 AM by david_vincent
The Chinese saw the US, envied Americans their power and standard of living, and have been doing everything they can to replace the US as planet Earth's big swinging dicks. And our big-business-is-god politicians (at the command of Walmart) have helped them in that by granting them Most Favored Nation status -- which is, in effect if not intent, a betrayal of America. Not that such little things as nation-states concern multinationals anymore; their only loyalty is to their bottom line.
