Glenn Beck Says Family Harassed In Bryant Park: 'It Was A Hostile Situation'
Source: Huffington Post

Glenn Beck went to Bryant Park Monday night for a showing of Alfred Hitchock's "The 39 Steps". But that was not the only showing he saw.

"It was a hostile situation," Beck described of his family's movie night; his wife, Tanya, had wine "kicked intentionally on to her back," leaving her "completely wet," he said on his radio show Tuesday morning. He further said that his wife and daughter were greeted by a man pointing his fingers and yelling "We hate conservatives here!" when they got up to use the restroom.

"If I had suggested -- and I almost did -- wow, does anybody have a rope? Because there's a tree here. You could just lynch me. And I think there would've been a couple in the crowd that would've!" The conservative radio-host recalled.

"I apologize to anybody who had their movie experience wrecked because of the people that found it so necessary to spew hatred," Beck said, "but there's nothing I can do about it."

36. Seems like that would have been mentioned in the post...
I'll bet Beck is lying again. Or maybe some wine was spilled on his wife accidentally, and he made up this wild tale.

4. "We hate conservatives here!" Utter bullshit!
Now I can believe somebody might holler "We hate YOU, you pompous fucking douchebag", but people just do not shout things like "we hate conservates".

This is more made up Beck crap to try to regain the mojo that he has lost over the past couple years by being a friggin loon.

If there's one thing beck and others of his ilk have learned it's that the victim card is the most effective tool in their shed.

Palin learned that in her crib, probably in the womb, and beck has now picked up on it.

47. Witness says Beck bodyguards hassled moviegoers
Edited on Wed Jun-29-11 12:21 AM by RamboLiberal
Just a quick FYI -saw your article on Mr. Beck and his numerous FALSE claims about the way that he was treated at Bryant Park last night. Myself and several of my friends were seated immediately behind Mr. Beck & co (have pictures) and I can tell you that while the crowd was certainly not *thrilled* that he had shown up, his family was left completely alone, and for the most part he was too. Conversely, it was his security detail (two body guards) that seemed to be unnecessarily prickly with the crowd, scolding myself and my friends for acrobatics and other harmless activities taking place well before the movie started, and contributing to a considerably less relaxed atmosphere than is typically experienced during BPMN (I've been going for about six years now).

It was my friend that spilled the glass of wine on Tanya -and I can assure you that it was a complete accident. A happy one, to be sure, but nonetheless a complete and utter accident. As soon as the wine spilled (and I question how Tanya became soaked from a half glass of wine) apologies were made and my friends pretty much scrambled to give Tanya & co napkins -no doubt aware that it would look terrible and that their actions could be perceived as purposeful. No words were exchanged after that, as I think that it became pretty clear to Beck & co that my friends and I were doing everything in our capacity to help clean the "mess".

I'm sure it's unnecessary to point out the hypocrisy in Glen's statements that we were being hateful. I can assure him that we don't need his sympathy. Incidentally, none of us have made a career of "spewing hate" on the radio, or any other media platform. We live our lives intolerant only of those who don't tolerate: We have chosen New York as our city for that very reason. We do things like go to Bryant Park Movie Night, and vote to legalize gay marriage. We don't taunt Glen, or his family. And we certainly don't waste our wine, even on Tanya.

Thanks, and please let me know if you have further questions.

Lindsey Piscitell

http://nymag.com/daily/intel/2011/06/new_yorkers_turned_on_glenn_be.html

A woman named Lindsay Piscitell, who was sitting behind the Becks at Bryant Park (and whose friend is the one who allegedly "intentionally kicked wine" on Beck's wife), shared her version of events with New York magazine. She says the Becks were left alone and that his body guards were giving the moviegoers a hard time and throwing their weight around. As for that wine incident? Piscitell writes:

It was my friend that spilled the glass of wine on Tanya -and I can assure you that it was a complete accident. A happy one, to be sure, but nonetheless a complete and utter accident. As soon as the wine spilled (and I question how Tanya became soaked from a half glass of wine) apologies were made and my friends pretty much scrambled to give Tanya & co napkins -no doubt aware that it would look terrible and that their actions could be perceived as purposeful. Incidentally, none of us have made a career of "spewing hate" on the radio, or any other media platform. -----

My favorite part of Glenn's 12-minute drone about the evening's event: He accuses people of applauding when the movie was over (because he and his family were leaving). Um, Glenn, that's what people do when movies end. They clap.

51. I say this is bullshit. No evidence this happened
and if if it did happen, I have no sympathy for Beck.

This is a guy who has made his millions demonizing the less fortunate, mocking the poor and the handicapped. This is a guy who had no problem personalizing disagreements with antiwar activists and encouraging his audience to harass them in the leadup to the Iraq war. This is a guy who couldn't get enough of airing misleading clips of ACORN workers, causing lives to be ruined. And he's been borderline stalking Francis Fox Piven for months, leading to the poor woman getting death threats.

Beck has always made the politics personal. He had no problem mocking people like Elizabeth Edwards because they didn't live up to his physical standards of beauty. He's engaged in nonstop character assassination and smears against Democratic officials and employed violent rhetoric in doing so.

The man is a sociopath and has no conscience. He cares little about what effect his divisive and violent rhetoric has on society.

So he went to an event, and supposedly got jeered and had a drink spilled in his vicinity.

Boo-fucking-hoo. If you peddle in hate 24/7, don't be surprised when you go out and find that you're not exactly beloved.

What a thin-skinned crybaby.

54. Incidentally, Beck's always been a whiny chickenshit
Before he was a household name, Beck came to my town for one of his pro-Iraq war rallies in 2003.

He spent the lead-up to the event on the radio mocking anyone who didn't side with the Bush administration. Then when this nobody DJ showed up in our town, he insisted on being driven around in a hummer with a multi-car police escort for two days.

God forbid he might have to speak with the targets of rants face-to-face.

Instead, he lives like Rush, in a Michael Jackson-esque bubble, shielded from criticism in a mansion compound. And a healthy dose of call screeners at work, of course.

It's the only way they can feel popular.

60. This Is Just Sad
I don't know - I'm no fan of Glenn Beck and in fact I disagree with what he stands for but what is this country turning into when people behave this way in front of the man's children? Beck and his wife are one thing but when you involve his small children, it turns into something totally different.

This is an incident his young children may remember their entire lives and can we really live with that?

If you can, then I feel sorry for you. I cannot. There are more of us than there of his type. We do not win the long battle by behaving like animals. We win in the long run by acting like decent people and convincing others that that way of thinking is outdated and not good for the people of this country.

Wouldn't we be throwing a fit if someone treated Rachel this way? Yes, we would. To me, this is akin to when we dance on someone's grave whom we don't agree with. It might make you feel better for the minute but in the long run, if you are a decent person you would feel bad.

We only lower ourselves to the republicans' level when we act like this. I am embarrassed for our party when there are people who who behave this way.

64. NiceTry
This Lindsey Piscitell has basically been discredited and shown to be a liar apparently through some tweets she sent out saying that she was sitting near them and talking of "accidentally" spilling wine on his family. She got her 15 minutes of fame and it's not working out too well for her.

What I'm saying is that we need to stop acting like animals and quit playing games. Unemployment, poverty, and unpaid-for wars are devastating this country; not people like Glenn Beck. To be sure, he's someone I disagree with and I have chosen to not watch him or listen to him, but he's not the problem. Unemployment, poverty, and unpaid-for wars are.

65. Provide a link besides the blaze and the lying butt of Scott Baker

Till then nice try by you!

Beck's fans do not buy this. In fact, the editor-in-chief of Beck's website, The Blaze, launched a full investigation into Piscitell, her friends, and her account of what happened in the park. "Is it possible that the wine spill really was accidental?" writes Scott Baker on The Blaze. "Oh, maybe. But Twitter tells us a few things that may call her account and her motives into question." Baker's post continues by detailing how a Twitter account attributed to someone named Lindsey Piscitell showed a Foursquare check-in with a profanity-laced comment about sitting next to Beck at the park that was followed by a tweet from a friend who suggests the spill. Baker has updated his post twice (so far) and points to a Gawker commenting account that matches the Twitter account attributed to Piscitell. Another update points to tweets from someone named Sara Romanoski, who bragged about spilling wine on Beck's American flag blanket, even tipping off The Daily Show about the incident. She used the hashtag #makemefamous.

With their investigation, Beck and his staff at The Blaze have effectively aimed a cannon of vitriol right at Piscitell and Romanoski. Their unrelenting pursuit of the young girls who dared bother Beck has resulted in a steady stream of nasty name-calling in the comments of Baker's post on The Blaze: "Loser," "bimbo," "lying jackass," "lefty loon." Hecklers found her Facebook page, her email address and presumably all of presumably all of the other social media accounts Baker mentioned. She's since either locked or deleted her entire social media presence. Piscitell says she's receiving a stream of hate-filled emails, and from this vantage point, it seems like the response from Beck's fans as a whole makes her statement about hypocrisy especially prescient.

"I don't hate Glenn Beck," Piscitell told Gawker. "I don't care enough about Glenn Beck to hate him. I hate the way he portrayed us. I hate that he lied about us. Frankly, if I hated Glenn Beck that much I would have gotten up and left the movie."

Beck read the letter from Piscitell to New York on his radio show Wednesday and said about the hypocrisy line, "You're still going to get my prayers, because I still love you."

Independently, our Jon Bershad contacted a Twitter user who claimed to have been present during the wine-spilling who recounted that people were being friendly and shaking hands with Beck, and that she saw no such hostility, which seems to corroborate Piscitell’s claims. Working against her, however, besides Beck’s words, are earlier words she herself wrote.

Beck called the claims “false” and identified Piscitell as “The lady, I’m sure, that screamed at me ‘You’re in a park! Get over it! When you come to a public park you should expect gymnastics!’” He also defended his bodyguards, who Piscitell accused of unnecessary prickliness, noting that “these guys are unbelievably professional” and that they said “not a word” at anyone (Piscitell says the bodyguards told them to knock off the acrobatics). As noted before, Beck also noted the evidence via The Blaze on his side of hateful invective at him from Piscatell, who claims to be a friend of the wine-spilling culprit. He noted that even in her claims that it was an accident, Piscitell tweeted, “we were of course, VERY happy that it happened.”

The acrobatics may also be a key to proving Beck’s point right, as the witness that spoke to Bershad also noted Piscitell’s friends doing them: “the only real jeers she heard were directed at a group doing fake acrobatics sitting near him.” Bershad’s witness did not specify whether the bodyguards were jeering as well, but from the context, it appears that, if they were annoyed by the acrobatics, they weren’t the only ones.

But as much as Piscitell and company has the motive to commit the crime, so does Beck have the motive to want to incite it– his last week at Fox News. It is as much as “happy accident” for Piscitell that Tania Beck had wine spilled on her as it is a “happy accident” for Fox News’ The Glenn Beck Program to have a major controversy involving hateful liberals occurring during it’s last week on air. The crowd at a Bryant Park Movie Night is fairly predictably liberal– Beck must have known he was going into the lion’s den– and as much as his point about being courageous is a valid one in going, the evidence of him going out to similar events in the past is rather scarce (the only similar event in recent memory is his field trip to Harlem for the program in October 2009).

I know of Scott Baker from time he was a Pittsburgh newscaster married at the time (till he dumped her for a beauty queen) Ruth Ann Baker who was/is a RW radio personality/RW columnist. He's a RW tool!

Baker works for Beck! You think he wouldn't back his boss!

Baker taught journalism to WH correspondent/Male prostitute Jeff Gannon.
