Christine Lagarde named first-ever female chief of IMF
Source: The Telegraph

France's Christine Lagarde has been named the first-ever female chief of the IMF, facing an immediate crisis as violent Greek anti-austerity protests rocked the stability of the eurozone
The French finance minister, widely respected for her leadership during Europe's financial crisis over the past three years, was chosen to replace Dominique Strauss-Kahn, who resigned abruptly on May 18 after being arrested in New York for the alleged sexual assault of a hotel maid.

Earlier on Tuesday the US declared its support for Ms Lagarde to head the International Monetary Fund, all but assuring that she would be chosen.

"I am pleased to announce our decision to support Christine Lagarde to head the International Monetary Fund," Treasury Secretary Timothy Geithner said in a statement.

"Minister Lagarde's exceptional talent and broad experience will provide invaluable leadership for this indispensable institution at a critical time for the global economy."

1. Degrees of ... Obama.

She was formerly Chairman of the Executive Committee, equivalent to a CEO, of the Baker & McKenzie law firm. Her offices were located in Prudential Plaza #1 in Chicago. Obama's campaign headquarters are now located in Prudential Plaza #1.

3. Ah. Timothy Geithner, the Pete Peterson choice.
I don't trust a word Geithner says.

Until he endorsed her, I had a rather solid impression of Christine Lagarde.

5. That's too bad!
But, not a surprise. Considering we're talking about the IMF.

6. And the odds of her telling the European banksters to
take a haircut are?

The IMF, celebrating 67 years of kleptocracy and either stomping on the throats of, or delivering unwelcomed butt sex to the working class of the world.

7. From the film "Inside Job":
Christine Lagarde: And l clearly remember telling Hank: 'We are watching this tsunami coming, and you're just proposing that we ask: "which swimming costume we're going to put on."'
interviewer: What was his response? What was his feeling?
Christine Lagarde: 'Things are under control. Yes, we are looking at this situation carefully, and, yeah, it's under control.'
